President Obama: Even Michelle's answer on war 'is no'
Source: The Hill
Obama, in a number of television interviews taped Monday, used his wife to drive home the point that he understands most Americans remain skeptical of his proposal for a limited strike in Syria.
If you ask somebody, if you ask Michelle, Do we do we ant to be involved in another war? The answer is no, Obama told NBC. People are wary about it, understandably.

In a separate interview with CBS, Obama said he didn't expect his address to the nation on Tuesday would "swing the polls" toward support for strikes.
"I don't expect that it's going to suddenly swing the polls wildly in the direction of another military engagement. If you ask the average person, including my household, 'Do we need another military engagement?' I think the answer generally is going be no," he said.

(4,919 posts)One of my biggest frustrations with President Obama has always been that he seems to repeatedly negotiate with himself in public instead of waiting to see how the other side responds to any one of his positions.
He's put out a serious threat of military action and working to get approval... This has been met with a response from Syria and Russia worthy of exploration... Now, why would Obama and Kerry dial back the pressure by jawboning with the media about how his wife is not on board, or that the strike would be unbelievably, itsy-bitsy, teeny-tiny?!?
I hope Obama realizes that beyond Syria and Russia... his opponents still are Congressional Republicans who really don't want him him to be successful at the end of the day.
INMO, he need to secure congressional approval to maintain maximum leverage.

(12,383 posts)who reveals his honest thoughts and emotions, which, i think, match those of most ppl. Obama doesn't want another conflict but at the same time he doesn't want to condone any further gassings of children by this regime. I don't think by telling his honest feelings to the world he is diluting his power to take out Syrian weapons. If anything I think he sends an even stronger message that there will be no next time without fatal consequences to mr. Assad and all of his followers.

If only it was Michelle, and not Samantha Power whispering in his ear.

(10,575 posts)WASHINGTON -- U.N. Ambassador Samantha Power suggested Monday that launching a military strike on Syria may be not legal, but she said it is "necessary" to prevent the use of chemical weapons.

(2,364 posts)we would realize that Power has provided Obama with the casus belli for both Libya and Syria.
IMO, the threat she poses to international stability is real and should not be underestimated.

(8,084 posts)get the war hawks rallied up and leave them with a major case of war blueballs, get the news talking about something other than Snowden, and get Putin to swoop in and save the day with a diplomatic non violent plan, and tell everyone it was his, Obama's idea.
