New Hampshire Senate Candidate: More Women In The Workplace Led To More Mass Shootings

Source: Buzzfeed

Former New Hampshire state Sen. Jim Rubens is jumping into the race to defeat Democratic Sen. Jeanne Shaheen Wednesday. Before he even reaches the starting blocks, Democrats are questioning his ability to reach women voters.

The reason? A 2009 post on his website that connects the rise of working women with what he says is a rise in mass shootings and other violence perpetrated by men.

“The collaborative, flexible, amorphously-hierarchical American economy is shutting out ordinary men who were once the nation’s breadwinners in living-wage labor and manufacturing jobs,” Rubens wrote. “Because status success is more vital to the male psychology, males are falling over the edge in increasing numbers.”

That everything is settled and we need to stop squawking about our rights as women and instead focus only on economic justice.

If birth control, abortion, the right to vote or work or make economic choices have to be given up by us wimmins, hey it's all for the good of the party. Gotta win back that Reagan democrat old white fart in his recliner!

it isn't "most everyone at DU"

It is a clueless, misogynistic and vocal minority.

I really wish there were a "liberalunderground.com" because "Democratic" is a nebulous term, and as we have seen from the current administration, includes people to the right of Nixon.

If the women were sent home there would be more domestic shootings.

I do agree with having a parent at home during the early development years of the children is healthy for society.
I also think a healthy society would have less mass shootings, but a dad/grandparent/sibling/aunt/uncle can be just as beneficial too.
It doesn't have to be mom's job.

Belittles women and insults men all in the same sentence.

What is his message to men?

"New Hampshire males, DON'T fall over the edge!! Suck it up,
send women back to the kitchen, barefoot, and make them
bake cakes!! They YOU can have their job!!"

scads more like him who won't say it publicly but who feel the same way:

Women have managed to make changes in their self-perceptions to fit better with the reality of the modern world.

People of color have managed to make changes in their self-perceptions to fit better with the reality of the modern world.

When in the name of god are these "it-was-better-in-the-good-old-days" white middle aged men, and the women who serve them, going to change their self perceptions to fit better with the reality of the modern world?

We get it!!! They don't like the changes that no longer place them on third base at birth. We get that. But too bad, and they aren't on third base anymore. When are they just going to accept it???

This is exactly why I particularly support the portion of Obamacare that mandates every male who purchases a boatload of firearms receive the “Testosterone Transition Vaccine“ which results in said males becoming chemically castrated and forever lobotomized. A male's psychology will no longer be a problem.

Easy peasy.

Just tryin' to help, folks.

Makes as much sense as his theory.
