Boehner Plans to Amend Senate CR

Source: Roll Call

Speaker John A. Boehner signaled Thursday that the House would not simply vote on the version of the continuing resolution the Senate sends back, running up against a timeline that could suggest at least a temporary government shutdown.

Asked if he would now accept a “clean” CR from the Senate to avoid a government shutdown, the Ohio Republican was plain-spoken: “I do not see that happening.”

While the Senate has accelerated its pace on the CR, there will be little time before Sept. 30 for that chamber to send its version of the CR back to the House, have the House send a revised version to the Senate, and then have the CR make its way through the Senate chamber — and that would assume the Senate accepts what the House sends it.

The Senate is expected to strip the Obamacare defunding language from the CR, leaving the health care law in place, and shorten the length of the continuing resolution from Dec. 15 to Nov. 15.

If these new amendments are so important, why weren't they in the FIRST bill the House voted on?

They are traitors to this country and spoiled brats besides that. I just wish it was their pay that won't be paid if the governement has a shutdown. Bet those teapartiers would all of a sudden have a huge change of heart and "wouldn't want to hurt the country's credit rating" so are reluctantly voting to increase the debt limit and fund the government.

This will just get uglier and uglier. It is what you get for allowing the most ridiculous Senator ever to hold office burn up your time and fall in a trap he created. It may be easier to negotiate with Syria and Iran than domestic Republicans.

Is it because Dems realize the GOP look like a bunch of bitter fucking morons and they'd like to wash, rinse, repeat as often as possible prior to 2014 midterms?

I'm getting tired of these fiscal crises. It is annoying beyond belief.

they will have another manufactured crisis to be able to strong-arm their agenda through. They know they have no chance to get what they want through normal means - what they want is too unpopular and they don't want debate, or even people to know about it. It's better to sneak all that stuff in while averting a "crisis." If people find out what they're doing, they're dead in the water. They use these crises as a smoke-screen.

Especially right before an election because it blew up in their faces the last time and hopefully this time wont be much different.
