Obama: Agreement possible over Iran's nuclear ambitions

Source: CNN

U.S. President Barack Obama said Friday he spoke by phone with Iranian President Hassan Rouhani, the first communication between U.S. and Iranian leaders since 1979.

He told reporters he believes a comprehensive agreement is possible regarding Iran's nuclear ambitions, saying, "the test will be meaningful, transparent and verifiable action" and would also ease international sanctions in place against Iran.

Western leaders have said Iran seems to sound different under the leadership of newly elected President Hassan Rouhani. On Friday, it was Rouhani's turn to return the compliment, saying European Union officials and U.S. President Barack Obama sound "different compared to the past."

"I view that as a positive step in the settlement of differences between Iran and the West," he told reporters Friday.

trying to implement PNAC's agenda with an attack on Syria and Iran?

Well the UN Security Council reaches an agreement on the destruction of Syria's chemical weapons and the first high level talks between the US and Iran take place in more than 30 years.

I'm sure the neocons are going ballistic.

That's why it's important not to listen to the hair-on-fire crowd.

And are now praising themselves for being for diplomacy all along, even though they were the most shitty people possible towards other people advocating a diplomatic solution, insisting that they were appeasers, loved the gassing of Syrians, "useless leftists," stupid idealists, and worthless pacifists?

I remember that quite clearly, having been on the receiving end of these assholes who have very suddenly switched their position once they realized that they weren't going to get the big smoking pile of dead Muslims they were hoping for the whole time.

If you'll see my old posts, you will see that certainly wasn't me. I was always opposed to an attack on Syria.

I was proven to be correct when I trusted Obama to do the right thing ad he did.

And now diplomacy with Iran.

This is great and I'm sure you'll agree.

Our position to Iran - starting from 1953 forward - has been one of the most damaging policies not just for the region as a whole but also for the United States - it's been an amazing drain in financial and diplomatic resources.

Now we just need to withdraw support from dictatorships, and tell Israel that we're friends, not a married couple.

Hope both the U.S. and Iran are up to the hard work that the negotiation's will no doubt be. And that the Bibi and friends don't attempt to screw this up and cooperate.

That's a pretty immature behaviour imo.

Gee - maybe bombing everything was not the best idea.

Talk a little, save many lives, and trillions of dollars?

But, the MIC might have to downsize.

Can't have that now,

can we . . .
