Top Republican Slams Ted Cruz: 'Show A Little Self-Restraint'

Source: Huffington Post

Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush (R) said Sunday that Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and other tea party members of Congress need to "show a little self-restraint" with their political strategizing, arguing that the government shutdown has badly damaged Republican policymaking priorities.

Speaking with ABC's John Karl, Bush said that problems with the basic structure of Obamacare and the law's flawed rollout would have done more to undermine the program than a hard-nosed GOP threat to shut down the government if the health care law was not defunded. The websites where people are supposed to buy health insurance under Obamacare have been effectively nonfunctional for millions of people since Oct. 1.

Karl asked Bush if he had a message for Cruz.

"Have a little bit of self-restraint," Bush replied. "It might actually be a politically better approach to see the massive dysfunction, but we don't even hear about that because we've stepped on that message ... show a little self-restraint and let this happen a little more organically."

Of course, I think Jeb Bush is just upset that Ted Cruz is on pace to stomp him in the 2016 Presidential primaries, since Ted has street cred with the suicide caucus.

Ivy League degree and all.

Big money is waning from the Tea Party already and ideology doesn't trump huge funding. Jeb Bush speaks for and gets the big money. He's already taken the Republican heat for his Mexican wife, so that gives him a solid foot in the Hispanic door. I'll be very surprised if he is not the candidate. He's got the entire package, with some Bush baggage, which he'll dispense with quickly...ancient history.

He is out of control and the GOP needs to put a lid on their nut-job. Just elected and they let him shut down the government. I think Newt Gingrich was around a few years before he became head nut-job. Put a muzzle on your chihuahua McConnell, he has gone rogue

All the Tea Party hopes and dreams are pinned on the future of Ted Cruz. He has an opportunity to to calm down the rhetoric and lead them to modest gains through working with the President. Instead he continues to lead them to explosion. He cannot beat the team of Pelosi, Reid and Obama. Those three sticking together is a barrier they cannot penetrate. Pelosi respects Reid, Obama respects Reid and Reid pulls all the factions together.

Picked this up from the freep site, no clue where to find it myself. McConnell has a better conservative rating than most, so I don't get it. This is nuts. They had me convinced that McConnell is a moderate and they know he is not. Of course Cruz is 100% in his one year in office. I deleted a few for the sake of brevity. The guys at the bottom must be in big trouble.

23. Bush #3 is worried they'll ruin his chances to sneak into the Presidency for 2016
Mon Oct 21, 2013, 08:32 PM
Oct 2013

Ted Cruz is going nowhere near that White House (won't make it past the primaries) but if his foolishness wrecks the Republican brand any further, he messes it up for those other Republican demons like Jeb Bush.
Jeb has been wanting to get to the Presidency for years but his brother George Walker screwed that all up for him.
He had to let the public forget a little bit before showing his face.

That's why he didn't run in 2012.
Obama woulda crushed him.
By 2016 he might have a shot but not if the prospects for all Republicans are damaged beyond repair.

From what it looks like right now, it looks like yet another Clinton vs. Bush battle with Hillary vs. Jeb in 2016.
That ain't guaranteed. A lot can change between now & later but it looks like that's where it is headed.

Jeb wants these guys to tone it down so they don't mess it up for him.
What Jeb doesn't realize is he's screwed no matter which way it goes.
If he runs up against Hillary, he will be defeated—especially on the prospect of seeing the 1st Female President.
If he runs up against any other Democratic nominee, he will be defeated—since no one wants to see the return of the Bushes after the age of Obama.
If he runs up against a Republican candidate fueled by the Tea Party madness, he will be defeated in the primaries.
If the Tea Party madness consumes the Republican Party BEFORE 2016, he may not have a viable chance to run period.

Either way, he's toast.
Jeb Bush will NEVER be President of the United States anywhere else but his dreams.
Thank GOODNESS!
John Lucas
