GOP moderates vow to speak louder
Source: Politico
The next time around, they wont stand for the ill-fated defund Obamacare strategy that ended up paralyzing the federal government for 16 days and crippling their partys approval numbers. And unlike their fellow Republicans sitting in conservative districts, its moderates who will be on the front lines in the 2014 elections.
While there doesnt appear to be an organized strategy among the handful of moderates still in the GOP-led House, they say theyll speak with a much louder and cohesive voice in the next round of budget wars. The moderates want to avoid a repeat of the shutdown, but its unclear whether theyll have sufficient clout to counterbalance their more conservative colleagues, who spoke with one powerful voice when it came to the shutdown.
I can assure you that the next time around, people are going to have their eyes wide open, said Republican Rep. Charlie Dent, who represents a moderate district in eastern Pennsylvania. I believe there will be a lot of folks speaking up. Aggressively, in fact.

(45,274 posts)Near as I can tell, the term seems to refer to those who espouse a particular strategy in a dispute over how to package the same set of inhumane reverse-Robin-Hood goals of disenfranchising the people on the bottom while ripping off their few remaining shreds of wealth and giving them to the rich.

(6,440 posts)All it takes is a belief that the Earth is 4.5 billion years old and that President Obama was born in Hawaii. Positions that ought not to be particularly controversial, but which are considered "brave" in today's Republican party. And if you actually give disaster relief for the people who elected you a higher priority than a desire to put that uppity n****r in his place, you are positively heroic and will hit the MSM's collective G-spot every time you say or do anything (unless you scream at a teacher, in which case let's just forget the incident ever happened, OK?)
