Northam wins lieutenant governor's race
Source: Times Dispatch
Democrat Ralph S. Northam will be Virginia's next lieutenant governor.
The Associated Press called the race at 8:37 p.m. as Northam pulled ahead with plenty of traditionally Democratic precincts in Northern Virginia still to report.
Northam, 54, has represented Norfolk in the state senate since 2008. He is a pediatric neurologist. During the campaign, he touted his experience in state government and his opposition to Republican efforts to restrict abortions.
His opponent was Republican E.W. Jackson, 61, the founder of Exodus Faith ministries, a non-denominational Christian church in Chesapeake. Jackson caused considerable controversy by denouncing Democrats as anti-God and homosexuals as sick and perverted.

But, compared to the last gubernatorial election, there were FAR fewer Cooch signs than McDonnell signs last time around, even here.
