Byrne Wins Republican Runoff in Alabama House Race (Tea Party Loses Critical Race)

Source: New York Times

MOBILE, Ala. — Bradley Byrne, a lawyer and former state senator, won a primary runoff race here Tuesday that was viewed as a critical test of whether the Republican establishment could fight off a Tea Party challenger.

Mr. Byrne defeated Dean Young, a conservative businessman who had counted on Tea Party support in this Deep Red district to overcome his opponent’s money and mainstream endorsements.

He will face Burton LeFlore, a Democrat, on Dec. 17. But in Alabama’s deeply conservative First Congressional District, which has been represented by a Republican for nearly a half-century, Tuesday’s Republican primary runoff was largely seen as tantamount to the general election.

The special election came about unexpectedly with the sudden retirement announcement in May by Representative Jo Bonner, one of three Republicans who have held the seat going back to 1965. But the race to replace Mr. Bonner became a national proxy fight between the ideological wings of the Republican Party after Mr. Byrne and Mr. Young emerged atop a nine-candidate field in a September primary.

And So far I don't hear the news talking about how huge this is that Tea Turds are losing left and right all over the country tonight

There is the VA Race

The Coralville, Iowa Races

Now GA races

this is a major sign that the Tea Turds are being rejected considering Off Elections has been where they have gotten a foot hold

Though Young concedes, he says he will not call Byrne; he's sticking to his word that he will not support Byrne in the general election.http://blog.al.com/live/2013/11/polls_close_at_7_pm_for_al-01.html#incart_maj-story-2

And the GOP wonders why they cant win a national election. Idiots.

In this case there is no chance of a republican losing, so if the bagger won the primary he would have won the general election.

The baggers are the only ones crazy enough to fight for government to take money out of their pockets to put into the pockets of billionaires like the Koch brothers.

Our South Baldwin (county, Alabama) Democrats got out the vote for Byrne.
Any registered voter can vote in the repug runoff.
We took a bullet (Byrne), but dodged a mortar round (Young).

We'll vote Dem in the general election, but our guy doesn't have even a ghost of a chance.
