Detroit Police led nearly three dozen people from an apartment complex on Jefferson at McClellan late Friday morning on various charges as part of an effort to clean up the crime-ridden buildings.
Officials said about 600 calls for service have been received on the Colony Arms apartments related to assaults, shots fired, domestic violence and drug dealing.
The people in the building were tired of it, Detroit Police Department spokeswoman Kelly Miner said.
Operation Clean Sweep, as theyre calling it, is being touted as the largest sweep of its kind in 20 years.

(14,400 posts)crime sweep in two decades I'm starting to see why Detroit continues to be such a violent place.
The fact that they needed 600 calls before they'd do anything is sad.

Our new mayor -- not so much.
This was a sweep of an individual apartment building. Twenty people in one building like this. That is unusual I would think. The building is not even that big. To be sure, the managers might be helping the wrong side.
Mostly because of Obama and Obamacare, IMNSHO, Detroit is turning around. Still a mess, but moving in the right direction.
