Alabama woman charged with murder in Iron Bowl party shooting
Source: sportingnews.com
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. A woman charged with killing a fellow Alabama fan after the end of last weekend's Iron Bowl football game was angry that the victim and others didn't seem upset over the Crimson Tide's loss to archrival Auburn, said the sister of the slain woman.
Adrian Laroze Briskey, 28, was charged Monday with murder in the killing of 36-year-old Michelle Shepherd.
Hoover police Capt. Jim Coker said both Birmingham women were Alabama fans and at the same party for the annual game between interstate rivals. With no time left on the clock, Auburn returned a missed Crimson Tide field goal more than 100 yards for a 34-28 victory, dashing any hopes of Alabama playing for a third straight national championship.
The victim's sister, Nekesa Shepherd, said she witnessed the killing and had no doubt it was about football, even though it was unclear to investigators whether the violence was motivated by the game.

(39,154 posts)...then she had no previous felony or violent misdemeanor record. That means she was a "law-abiding citizen" right up until the moment she shot someone.

(135,425 posts)I actually know a couple of people who have this ROLL TIDE mindset; they were whining like some of the fans in the stands over that amazing touchdown. And none of 'em actually WENT to the school, either. Or lived in Birmingham, or even in Alabama.
It's like...WTF?
Not a college football fan at all, myself...but that was one helluva ending to a game.
Nothing to shoot people over, though.....

Nekesa Shepherd said Briskey flew into a rage when she saw the sisters and others joking that the Crimson Tide's loss wasn't as bad as if the NBA's Miami Heat had lost a game.
"She said we weren't real Alabama fans because it didn't bother us that they lost. And then she started shooting," Shepherd told The Associated Press.

(78,249 posts)Auburn came from way behind to beat 'Bama a few years ago. Tide fan Harvey Updyke's reaction? He drove to Auburn and poisoned the iconic oaks at Toomer's Corner, where Auburn fans traditionally rolled them with TP after a win for generations, then bragged about it on a statewide sports radio call-in show!
But at least he only killed trees. He has officially been stripped of his title as World's Craziest Tide Fan.

(13,468 posts)REALLY bad U of K Basketball Fans (GO BIG BLUE). But I've yet to kill anybody when they've lost to Louisville.
Something tells me that alcohol may have been at that party, just a guess. Alcohol, extreme emotion, and firearms are not a good combination IMO.

A family from Arab is still reeling from an attack after the Iron Bowl this weekend. The Tidmore family was lighting fireworks after the game on Saturday and not long after they found themselves with a very unwanted guest.
Rena Tidmore said she doesn't know if her family was targeted or if it was just a random attack, but it's something that has kept her family on edge ever since.
"It happened so fast, it was bizarre and really crazy," she said.
Tidmore said a stranger who just left an Iron Bowl party came out of the woods, jumped out of a moving car and came to her house.

Alabama fans have some pretty severe entitlement issues--when their illusion of a world where they don't lose is shattered, they do some crazy-ass shit.
