Gov. Susana Martinez looks to recruit nurses from other states
Martinez: Health reform puts stress on medical staffing in rural areas
Published 7:57 PM MST Dec 03, 2013
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. New Mexico is now looking to other states to recruit nurses.
Officials said health care reform means more people are seeking health care, and nearby states could have the manpower the Land of Enchantment needs.
Its not just Oklahoma, said Gov. Susana Martinez. We are going to be proposing $220,000 for advertisement for various states.
Martinez will ask lawmakers for that money in 2014. She wants to recruit nurse practitioners and tell them they can do more if they work in New Mexico.
Some doctors suggest there are New Mexicans who want to be nurse practitioners, but educators dont have the space to train them.

(10,597 posts)... but didn't do the state sign up for ACA. There is no whiner like a Republican whiner, is there? I bet you me and my sister could go to NM and find those nurses for the Gov, right there in NM. First place to start would be NM's nursing schools. How many nurses will graduate at end of this month? How many in Spring 2014? And I bet you unemployed nurses are crawling out of the woodwork too, right there in NM, after hearing this news.
I bet you she has no complaint at all!

As far as the nurses.. yes that looks pretty sketchy
but I'm not well informed.

(10,597 posts)is expanded separately, without setting up a website for ACA. Many Republican governors chose this route, to get the money, but did not set up a website. There's something like 36 states who chose not to set up a website for ACA, preferring their citizens go to the federal HealthCare.gov website. If I'm wrong, please someone who knows for sure, correct me.

If you live in New Mexico, BeWellNM is the Health Insurance Marketplace to serve you. The BeWellNM website can give you information on local events and resources available in your state, including application assistance. For Open Enrollment this year, instead of the BeWellNM website, youll use HealthCare.gov to apply and enroll. Small businesses: Apply for SHOP coverage using New Mexicos SHOP Marketplace.
