NRA Board Member Invokes Holocaust To Insult Mayor Over Gun Safety Survey
Source: Think Progress
In Jersey City, Mayor Steven Fulop (D) is undertaking a small step toward gun safety at the local level through the process for soliciting gun vendors. He will disseminate a survey to all vendors bidding to supply firearms to local law enforcement asking how they handle gun safety issues, including whether they take steps to prevent illegal gun trafficking. In responding to the initiative, National Rifle Association Board Member Scott Bach blasted Fulop on NRA News, citing the fact that Fulops grandparents were Holocaust survivors as a reason why he should get it.

(653 posts)It serves to disconnect the critical mind, which is always the aim of these folks. Our beliefs serve as handles on our emotions to predators; they don't have to reach in very deep to jerk us around by them. Works pretty good now that we've got the media softening us up daily. Developing a critical, discerning mind is one of our few defenses. Remember when Repugs in Texas wanted to ban the teaching of critical thinking skills in the schools? The dumber the masses, the easier to manipulate. It's already working fairly well. Knowledge is our only protection.

To them it's "The sky is Falling" or your health care /social security is in danger because of the idlebrained Democrats; and, the dark-skinned person lurking behind the curtain is going to take something from you or do something to you.

That article presented an astute historical review and seemed to be saying that Hitler relaxed gun laws in general but not for Jewish persons.

should be showing up soon to point out that the Second Amendment does NOT allow asking arms dealers questions about their customers or business practices.
On edit: I didn't think it would be necessary, but evidently it is:

(39,171 posts)it is perfectly legal - even Scalia thinks that all sorts of gun regulations are perfectly legal. The issue is political, not legal.
