De Blasio Appoints Goldman Sachs Exec To Deputy Mayor Post For 'Fighting Inequality'

Source: Talking Points Memo

New York City Mayor-elect Bill de Blasio tapped Goldman Sachs executive Alicia Glen as his Deputy Mayor for Housing and Economic Development on Monday, the New York Times reported.

In a news conference announcing her appointment, de Blasio referred to Glen as a “a strong and forceful champion for fighting inequality,” according to the Wall Street Journal.

I voted for DeBlasio twice this year, but how is this different than what the Obama administration has done?

So hiring someone from GS to fight "inequality" is now "living in the real world"? LOL. Thanks for your input.

No wonder social progress is failing to advance and income inequality is skyrocketing: with "realistic friends" like you, we all should just give up now and be more "reasonable".

You will never, ever see an anti-Wall Street mayor elected in NYC.

Also note that DeBlasio created this position--certainly didn't exist under Mayor .00001%.

Bush Sr. employed the phrase "compassionate conservatism" while he continued to allow the Wall St. Jackals to satisfy their blood-lust at the expense of the 99%.

I could be wrong but this has the earmarks of "lipstick meet pig."

Going to war with Wall Street would be bad for the citizens of New York city and New York state.

Taxes on Wall Street were 8.5% of NYC's revenue and 16% of New York State revenue.

Going to war is exactly what he should be doing. I still vividly remember Wall Streeters drinking champagne and sneering down at Occupy protesters below their vaunted aristocratic ramparts. Sneering at the peasants.
I can almost bet you're all for $hillary Clinton too. And Chuck 'going down on Wall St.' Schumer.

affect your family and neighbors?

Very easy to be brave with other people's well-being on the line.

Occupy Wall Street didn't elect Bill DiBlasio. The working class and poor did, not a bunch of 20-somethings from privileged backgrounds hanging out in a park.

You sound remarkably like Nixon's VP Spiro Agnew who referred to the Vietnam War's student dissenters/protesters as, "...an effete corps of impudent snobs who characterize themselves as intellectuals."
