Judge: Paterno family lawsuit vs. NCAA can go on
Source: AP
HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) A judge says Penn State University must become involved in order for parts of a lawsuit filed by Joe Paterno's family and others against the NCAA to proceed.
The 25-page opinion issued Tuesday by state Judge John Leete delivers a mixed decision. It dismisses some elements, keeps others alive and leaves the door open for an amended lawsuit to be filed.

(3,982 posts)Paterno did nothing wrong. Anybody who thinks otherwise is a greedy idiot looking for a deep pocket to sue.

And thanks for beautifully illustrating the mindset of Penn State's administration and fanbase who were a million times more outraged over the tarnished reputation of a college football program and iconic coach than they were over the crimes themselves AND the university's unconscionable attempt to cover it up...

oder to protect his football program.
and it is all due to the perverted football culture where so called "heroes" of football are aggrandized to no end.
To me, athletes are just simple performers like actors and singers and should not be exalted as heroes.
Heroes are people who risk their lives to save other lives or serious injury to others without financial gain. The athletes don't deserve the massive adoration bestowed upon them.
They should remove all references to Joe Paterno from every place and make it appear as though he didn't exist.

(70,504 posts)... helped to ruin Paterno's legacy too. For years I was a Paterno fan because
he did things "the right way" but even before the scandal and his firing I had
become tired of Joepa's act. He was in his late 70s or early 80s and was getting
injured because he could no longer get out of the way of the players during
practice. I think PSU should have blown up the football stadium and dumped
the program after the stories of the child abuse had come out.

There have been men of great courage who never had any interest in sports; but don't tell that to those who subscribe to machismo -- which, unfortunately, includes a lot of people. Masculinity has been defined solely in terms of sports, as if all nonathletic boys and men were wimps. It's ridiculous and downright bigoted.
