HCC official accused of election trick faces lawsuit

HOUSTON — A Houston man accused of misleading voters who elected him a community college trustee believes he will keep his seat, despite a lawsuit seeking to disqualify him as not living in his district.

Dave Wilson says he plans to attend his first meeting of the Houston Community College board next week.

Wilson was narrowly elected in November. His opponent alleged campaign mailers Wilson sent to voters in his predominantly black district featured photographs of African-Americans, implying that Wilson was black. Wilson, who is white, has said he never lied.

A lawsuit now alleges Wilson is ineligible to serve because he doesn't live in his district.
