Gov. Andrew Cuomo says gun-loving pro-lifers not welcome in New York, right explodes
By David Ferguson
Saturday, January 18, 2014 14:28 EST

Right-wing media figures of all stripes are outraged that New York Gov. Chris Cuomo (D) said that New York state is no place for “extreme conservatives who are right-to-life, pro-assault-weapon, anti-gay” Republicans.

“(T)hey have no place in the state of New York,” the governor said, “because that’s not who New Yorkers are.”

The Albany Times-Union reported that Cuomo was speaking to Susan Arbetter on the New York Public Broadcasting radio show “The Capitol Pressroom.”

The National Review’s Kathryn Jean Lopez interpreted Cuomo’s statements to mean anyone who opposes abortion. In a column titled “Pro-Life? Not Welcome in Andrew Cuomo’s New York,” she lamented that people who want do deny a woman’s right to choose are, as ever, being unfairly persecuted.

He's sure being bold with this one.
Plenty of gun nuts around here have signs to "repeal the safe act," a law that limits the size of gun magazines, and keeps guns out of the hands of the mentally ill.

I have been wanting to get one of those signs, and add to it, so that it says, "Repeal the safe act, let nuts have guns!"

At any rate there are a lot of gun nuts in NY.

Thereby concluding that the one use of 'Chris' is a mistake.

Look, there is a group of New Yorkers who make a good living off the bond market and Wall Street. A lot are probably like my relatives who had to be told what a Doomsday Prepper was.

Politics does make strange bedfellows.

of Raw Story if they confuse a CNN Anchor and an Governor... for this story.

I don't need to see Raw Story as stupid as Michelle Bachman when she was in Waterloo IA once proclaiming she loved her hero John Wayne for coming from Waterloo ahem John Wayne Gacy (do'h)

... says worse about the left EVERY GODDAMNED DAY. It's time, and it has been for a long time, for the left to talk about the right the way they talk about us.

Want civility? Try practicing some.

The "right" may say worse every goddamned day, but I doubt the Governors did. You do realize that 40-45% of households own firearms, and although I don't have the statistics right now, a HUGE majority of Americans believe in the 2nd Amendment.
Do you also know that although the majority of people don't want to overturn Roe V Wade, they do consider themselves personally "pro life".

I think that there will be a huge backlash in his comments, and you will see him backing away from them a little bit in the coming days. Had he said "Tea Partiers", or something to that effect are not welcome that would be different than the slam against the Pro-Life, and Pro Gun population, MANY of them that belong to the Democratic Party.

Way too broad of a brush was used.

...are "gun lovers", who consider their M&P 15 an extension of their genitals. And not all anti-choicers scream at abortion clinics and carry around a model fetus in their pocket. I think most folks know exactly who Cuomo is referring to. And those who start screaming bloody murder over his comments, yep, those are the one's he's referring to.

... and am a solid 2nd amendment rights supporter. Who I DON'T support are the whackjob fucktards who think outlawing 30 round magazines and requiring background checks for all purchasers is "taking away their guns". they aren't half of anything, most Americans support such reforms and those who don't are retarded.

If I'm for stronger gun control legislation, does that mean that I DON'T "believe in the 2nd Amendment" ? Because I do. And if you include other people like me it's probably more like 90% of Americans who "believe in the 2nd Amendment". Especially the "well regulated militia" part.
