Christie cancels inauguration party over polar vortex storm
Source: New York Post
TRENTON, N.J. Gov. Chris Christie, who starts a second term with multiple investigations into his administrations tactics underway, will accentuate bipartisanship and diversity in his inaugural speech Tuesday.
The celebrations to mark the start of Christies second term could be tempered by investigations into traffic tie-ups that appear to have been ordered by his staff for political retribution and an allegation that his administration linked Superstorm Sandy aid to approval for a real estate project.
The 55th governor of New Jersey had to modify the schedule of inaugural events because a severe winter storm threatens to dump up to a foot of snow on the region Tuesday.
Organizers canceled an evening party on Ellis Island, a symbolic spot synonymous with the promise of the United States, because there was fear snow would make travel dangerous. The island where some 12 million immigrants first entered the U.S. is divided between New Jersey and New York, but his party was supposed to be held in a hall on the New York side.

(9,461 posts)How many right wing journalists have claimed the polar vortex doesn't exist? You know, it's a made up liberal concept and as such can't be used by Christie as a legitimate excuse.

(86,600 posts)there are higher powers at works here, whatever one imagines them to be. Couldn't happen to a more deserving individual. Something about bitter cold and a big dump seem significant somehow. Helluva way to start a new term, eh?

Now though... well, maybe there is something good about this polar vortex after all. Poor Christie. Aww.

I'm sure Christie will be donating the party goodies to the homeless. As a matter of fact, he'll undoubtedly be working the lines, serving up the foie gras himself.

(9,461 posts)rant that combines the character you've shown and Dick Cheney's the absence of evidence isn't the evidence of absence? It's a classic. If u aren't familiar: Samuel L Jackson plays a white guy named Rummy. He's the friend of Ed who is the grandson of a wealthy individual and a complete incompetent. Notice the large W on his necklace. Sound familiar? Ed Asner is the voice of George H.W. Bush, err I mean Ed's grandfather.
