TRENTON The head of a major development group at the center of allegations made by the mayor of Hoboken met with Gov. Chris Christie in September during a gala honoring the governor for his work on improving drug treatment.
Christie and his wife, Mary Pat, posed for a photo at the event with Leslie Smith Jr., an executive vice president of the Rockefeller Group, the same firm that was seeking to develop three blocks of prime real estate in the densely populated city.
The city's mayor, Dawn Zimmer, went on national television this weekend and accused the Christie administration, particularly Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno and another member of the governor's cabinet, of attempting to strong-arm her to support the firm's project.
