SECAUCUS — Thousands of passengers arriving from New York to the Secaucus Junction transfer station for the train to Super Bowl XLVIII vented their outrage at the overcrowded trains and stifling heat.

"New Jersey sucks," some people shouted as they came off the New York trains. Many had peeled off coats and other outer layers of clothing, and were drenched in sweat from the high temperatures in the packed train cars.

People related stories of passengers passing out and paramedics being called in to help.

Security officers at first were checking every bag, but by 2:45 p.m., more than three hours before the game, checkpoints were overwhelmed by the crowds and people they were pouring through with little or no examination of what was on their person or what they were carrying.

John Durso, spokesman for NJ Transit, said earlier today that large crowds had formed hours before the first train was to leave Secaucus.

13. Don't know but Christie killed a major project called the ARC Tunnel. It would have created

an additional tunnel for the trains. He lied to his voters and told them it was over the cost. That is another story that is beginning to come out. So yeah, Christie's governorship only makes things like this worse.

3. In the planning calls, we were told to assume 90 min total from New York to Meadowlands

I think they might need to adjust that...

The Mayor of Secaucus endorsed Christie. Did someone put a red sticker on his file folder instead of green?

Perhaps it is all of those staff changes in the governor's office.

With friends like Christie who needs enemies?

8. "'New Jersey Sucks,' some people shouted as they came off the New York trains..."

To be fair, most people from New York say that at least four times a day. many from north Jersey, too.

11. If any of those shouts came from New Yorkers, I have a middle finger to show them.

NJ Transit is far better than the LIR and the subway at rush hour is an experience not soon forgotten. You become more intimate with your fellow riders than you do with your life partner.

So New Yorkers, you can stuff your comments where the sun don't shine.

As for the tourists, suck it in. Around here we don't drive just to go to the store to get milk. We take public transportation.

Other than that, enjoy the Super Bowl!!!

Awfully hard for the unconscious to suck in anything. I know I want to travel to NJ now!

Although I wonder why they did faint. It was quite nice over here, it was in the low 50s (good thing because today is snowing buckets). I was being a bit tongue in cheek about the whole thing. New Yorkers are always putting down NJ.

17. Hmm, I do believe that New Jersey bid on the opportunity to host the Super Bowl.

And therefore there is some responsibility to make the experience a pleasant one for said tourists, given the small fortunes they are leaving in the state solely because of attendance at the Super Bowl, don't you think? It is not as if there aren't at least a dozen other venues which could host a Super Bowl which have nicer weather in early February. Furthermore, the complaint wasn't about having to take public transportation, it was about the quality of the public transportation.

Thousands of passengers arriving from New York to the Secaucus Junction transfer station for the train to Super Bowl XLVIII vented their outrage at the overcrowded trains and stifling heat.

They can't add enough trains to accommodate the Super Bowl attendees and keep the temperatures at a comfortable level? Why are you apologizing for that?

As much as a buffoon as Christie is, I'm pretty sure it's the 'fans' who are responsible for climbing into overcrowded, overheated trains.

"Damn you, New Jersey, how dare you make me come here with hundreds of thousands of other people!"

Nothing.
