McConnell's Job Approval Rating Is Lower Than Obama's In Kentucky

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell's (R-KY) job approval rating is almost the same as President Barack Obama's in Kentucky, a new poll found.

The Herald-Leader/WKYT Bluegrass poll released Thursday evening found 32 percent of those surveyed said they approve of McConnell's job performance while 60 percent said they disapproved of the job the top Senate Republican has done. That rating is almost the same as Obama's approval rating in the state, which is 34 percent and his disapproval is about 60 percent.

What's more, the poll found Secretary of State Alison Lundergan Grimes (D) holds a small 4-point lead over McConnell in the Kentucky Senate race. The poll found Grimes with 46 percent support among Kentucky voters while McConnell has 42 percent support. That finding though is essentially within the poll's plus or minus 3-point margin of error.

The silver lining for McConnell is that he holds a solid double-digit lead in the GOP primary against challenger Matt Bevin. The poll found McConnell with 55 percent support in the Republican primary while Bevin has 29 percent support. That finding had a margin of error of plus or minus 4.9 points.

That translates into a double silver lining for Lundergan: She is polling better than McConnell (and Bevin, the teapartier); and, McConnell can't count on Bevin supporters to cross-over and support him, should he beat Bevin in the primary, because the beck, levin and Hannity sideshow is openly encouraging their listenership to stay home rather than come out and vote for McConnell.

win. That is awesome. Of course, i'll have to see them repeat this if McConnell wins the primary. They aren't the most trustworthy people, if you know what I mean.

But beck said on one of his evening drive-time talk shows, "I was talking to hannity and Levin ... we've talked and we agree, if mcConnell wins ... beat bevin, I'm not leaving my house to vote for mcConnell ... what's the use ... he's worthless. What about you?"

When he opened up the lines for comment, the 5 comments I heard were "Yep ... I'm with you glenn; McConnell is a worthless rino ..."

So the worst Langeran will face is the beck/hannity/levin crowd sitting home in 2014; but the best case for her would be for bevin to mount a 3rd-party challenge ... and Langeran, wins by double figures, as the gop splits.

11. I know the DSSC initially looked at backing a third party candidate to fight McConnell. I don't know

what happened, it might be because McConnell landed Ron Paul's son-in-law as campaign manager and hurt the tea party chances in the state. (Of course, once the tape of him saying he was "holding his nose" working for McConnell, that started to fall apart.)

Bevin has blasted "ObamaCare", that Kentuckians are find they kind of like and came out against the infrastructure project that McConnell got in exchange for the debt ceiling deal. Seems maybe a few Kentucky builders and construction workers have finally made the "Government Infrastructure Spending=Jobs" connection.

I believe the average rating for any congress critter is single digits. So he is doing pretty good, sadly.

The president is doing very good compared to the average congressperson.
