SAN JOSE -- Authorities are investigating what caused the death of a San Jose State University student found in his dorm room on Sunday afternoon.
President Mo Qayoumi informed students and employees Monday afternoon in an email that the student was Brenden Tiggs. He was a freshman studying kinesiology, the university said.
Tiggs, 18, lived in Joe West Hall, and campus police -- responding to a call from residence hall staff members -- found his body about 2:45 p.m. Sunday, said San Jose State spokeswoman Pat Lopes Harris.
He graduated last spring from St. Ignatius College Preparatory School in San Francisco, where he played football.
