Missouri Senate endorses gun nullification bill

Source: KMOV/CBS

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Missouri senators endorsed legislation on Tuesday that seeks to nullify U.S. gun restrictions and send federal agents to jail for enforcing such laws, though the measure would likely face a court challenge if it gets approved in the state.

Courts have consistently ruled that states cannot nullify federal laws, but that hasn’t stopped Missouri and other states from trying.

Sen. Brian Nieves, the Republican sponsoring the bill, said the legislation would protect law-abiding gun owners from federal encroachments and regulations. Missouri Republicans began pushing for the legislation following President Barack Obama’s call last year for increased background checks and a ban on assault weapons.

The legislation would subject federal agents to civil and criminal penalties for knowingly enforcing federal gun laws. Agents could face up to one year in prison and a $1,000 fine.

Only gun nuts would run to a relic of the Confederacy to protect their codpieces.

Would we be outraged as well? What would we call people who were for the freedom to do those things if a state did something similar, abortion nuts?

If they actually arrested (kidnapped) a Federal agent, the Federal gov't would just bring more guns into the state.

And not the kind they want...

Our local county sheriff, here on the southern Oregon coast, has pledged to not enforce any changes in gun laws that he does not personally agree with, so much for the courts, he thinks he trumps them.

Yes, I'm outraged by the methods used by the federal government to enforce immigration and drug laws.
As far as I know the feds haven't stopped enforcing those laws.

The tyrannical assumption of the government by force contrary to and in violation of the constitution of the country.

I believe the penalty used to involve horses, ropes and body parts being dragged behind said horses to the four corners of the world. Oh the good old days. Dammit, I forgot I don't support the death penalty.. Oh wait I can take a page from the baggers and call it "Community Entertainment" Yeah.

This is the same asshole who shoved a gun up the nose of an opposing Republican Campaign manager after his primary, he got away with this action. Given that the opposing campaign manager suggested marital infidelity during the campaign that is just typical Republican politics. He has had Capitol Police called on him for harassing, verbally assaulting constituents in his office (after he closes the doors in his office). The Capital Police suggested be careful who you send to office next election. This nut will hurt someone someday, Paranoia does not begin to describe him, he is convinced "liberals, Democrats" are threatening his life. Add to all of this he is a full blown secessionist. Consider this nut armed and dangerous. Assume he will go to Washington DC someday if his anger management issues do not get the better of him.

The republicans force votes on unconstitutional legislation to use against Dems in the next elections.
