Democrats outraise GOP House committee

WASHINGTON — Democrats facing long odds of reclaiming their majority in the House outraised their Republican rivals in this election year's first month and have banked more cash.

The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee said Thursday it raised $6.8 million in January and has $32.2 million in the bank. The National Republican Congressional Committee raised $6.1 million in January and $24 million in the bank.

Neither party committee reported any debt.

Republicans have 232 seats in the 435-member House. There are 199 Democrats, and four vacant seats.

2. If David Koch writes a check to AFP for $32,000,000 doesn't that negate all the Dems fundraising? What if his check is for $400,000,000?

3. What message will the Democratic Party have for potential voters to overcome these disadvantages?
