Christie Christie avoids Bridgegate scandal at Town Hall, talks Sandy relief and weight loss

Source: New York Daily News

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie avoided talk of Bridgegate on Thursday at the first town hall meeting of his second term, focusing instead on the bureaucracy holding up reconstruction after Hurricane Sandy.

“I still spend every week, about 40% of my personal time, on Sandy,” Christie told the crowd of around 400 at the VFW hall in the Port Monmouth section of Middletown, N.J., as he slammed the slow-moving federal government and referred to FEMA (the Federal Emergency Management Agency) as “another F-word.”

“While I have certainly gotten along with the Obama administration, this is one of those areas where they certainly should have stepped up,” he said, blaming the President for not pushing hard enough to speed up flood insurance claims.

With the Bridgegate scandal looming, the Republican governor took his case straight to the people of New Jersey at his 110th town hall meeting since taking office in January 2010.
