SB 1062 would have failed in state Senate
Monday, February 24, 2014
PHOENIX Three Republican Arizona state senators who voted for a bill that has triggered a national backlash from gay rights advocates are now urging Gov. Jan Brewer to veto the legislation.
Sen. Bob Worsley says he and Sens. Adam Driggs and Steve Pierce sent a letter to Brewer Monday asking her to strike down the legislation allowing business owners with strongly held religious beliefs to refuse service to gays.
Worsley says he was uncomfortable when he voted for the bill. Both he and Pierce called their votes a mistake.
The legislation passed last week. The Arizona Chamber of Commerce and Industry is requesting a veto because of fears it will hurt tourism.

Some of the best comments came from Christians that said they don't need to support the 'lifestyle', but they do support equality. Baby steps.

He said "render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's and to God that which is God's." HE certainly knew there was a striking difference between the two, and that they were entirely separate things.

(27,670 posts)HATE and BIGOTRY was the motivation behind every single vote for this bill, they can lie about their reasons and motivations all they want, but the intent of the bill was clearly to codify hatred so that RW conservative christians could physically manifest their hatred for other human beings in order to degrade and diminish them.
No decent person would ever vote to do something as ugly and nasty as this.
It's for sure that they were all feeling so good and holy and righteous and superior when they made it clear to LGBT what they really thought and felt about us with that vote.
There is no excuse or justification for what these legislators did.
They wanted to deliberately hurt us, because they hate us.
Let's hope this lesson makes it clear to all of them how really wrong and shameful hate and bigotry are, and helps teach them how to be better, more loving people because of it.
"Maybe...it's not too late, to learn how to love, and forget how to hate."

Often times they take time to organize, implement and see results.
The implications that SB1062 had enabled quick and swift action by tens of thousands nationwide.
The hands that hold the cash in hand and pull the re-election campaign curtains spoke, and their puppets obeyed.
"The Arizona Chamber of Commerce and Industry is requesting a veto because of fears it will hurt tourism."
Bingo.
This isn't the end of bigotry, xenophobia and hatred in Arizona unfortunately.
However the Senators' actions is not out of newfound sympathy for the individuals their legislation hurts the most.
They were protecting their own bottom line, not anyone else's.
