An article published by NPR on Tuesday indicated that Sen. Mary Landrieus (D-LA) tough re-election battle in Louisiana could be less about her vote for health care reform, and more about her decision to support the countrys first black president.
For weeks, groups like Koch brothers-funded Americans for Prosperity have been airing advertisements telling Louisianans how Landrieu hurt their families by supporting President Barack Obamas health care reform law.
NPRs Alisa Chang recently spoke to people in Galliano, Louisiana to find out what they really thought about Landrieu.
Beau Broussard told Chang that politicians didnt run for office without stopping by to speak to the Cajuns who spend their day sitting beneath an old oak tree. He recalled that the last candidate brought some beans.

(6,151 posts)BTW, who made the Cajun crack about sitting under a tree all day? By and large those are hardworking people. If Broussard's Cajun and said it in jest, that's one thing. I crack Irish jokes all day but it's pretty hard for me to insult myself.
I'll go on to Raw Story and read the whole thing. Might learn something. It happens!
But that 'got their place' comment is despicable - no matter how common the prevalent attitudes down there.
Anyway, thanks for the OP.

(24,721 posts)It's a part of the southern-most region of the state which doesn't attract newcomers, business or social. Their main sources for income are fishing & boat-building. To get to Grand Isle, one has to drive through Galliano which is well known for having the most blatantly crooked speed trap.
