Clinton Presidential Library Releases Thousands Of Papers On Hillary Clinton
Source: Guardian UK
Hillary Clintons still-theoretical 2016 presidential campaign faced a possible new challenge on Friday, with the release of the first of 33,000 previously restricted documents touching on potentially embarrassing aspects of her previous occupancy of the White House.
The Clinton Presidential Library published an estimated 4,000 to 5,000 pages of records on Friday afternoon. The records include private advice from the former first ladys press secretary, Lissa Muscatine, and documents related to her failed efforts at healthcare reform.
A further 28,000 or so pages will be released by officials with the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) over the coming weeks, after the lapsing of legal protection from freedom of information requests.
The individual pages
were previously withheld by NARA in response to FOIA requests that were processed during the first 12 years after President [Bill] Clinton left office, because they were exempt from disclosure under the Presidential Records Act restrictions concerning appointments to federal office and confidential advice among the president and his advisors, said a National Archives spokeswoman.

(16,191 posts)By law, internal documents from a presidency are protected from scrutiny for 12 years. The 12 year window on Bill Clinton's presidency expired on January 20, 2014. These are new documents that have never been revealed before.
I don't expect them to reveal anything of any real significance, but you can bet that the righties are getting worked up anyway.

(27,802 posts)"Greenwad"? What are you inferring by this obvious "slam" of, (IMO), a first-rate journalist?
What's wrong with Glen Greenwald?
Is it the fact that he is gay?

(11,519 posts)Oh, and of course there was that communistic plot to provide everyone with healthcare.
Yes, the GOPers will be pouring through these looking for any ammunition. I expect them to come away very disappointed.

(11,014 posts)Whatever stir these documents cause, would be a big yawn by the time 2016 materializes. Americans have short memories.
If these were released in 2016, they would have been a day-in day-out fodder and damaging even if they contained nothing.

They are hoping to find anything that can cast aspersions on the Clintons.
Maybe they'll finally be able to figure out how Hillary killed Vince Foster from AR (she was visiting her ailing father) or how they caused Ron Brown's plane crash.
