A Fresno man pleaded no contest to felony charges in connection with an attack last month in southeast Fresno that seriously injured a homeless man and killed the man's dog, Snoopy.
Alejandro Alfredo Lopez faces up to four years in prison when he is sentenced in Fresno County Superior Court on March 26. Until then, he will be held in the county jail without bail.
On Wednesday, Lopez, 18, pleaded no contest to charges of assault causing great bodily injury and cruelty to animals, court records show.
In exchange for his plea, prosecutors dismissed a felony charge of assault with a deadly weapon and a misdemeanor charge of giving false information to police.

(6,896 posts)literally killing kittens when they used bulldozers to scoop up tents and belongings and dumping them straight into garbage trucks to be compacted.
In fact, a lady who was at one of the first major cleanups that precipitated the Kincaid vs City of Fresno lawsuit,
(Lisa Apper, works with her own Catholic Worker program serving meals at the County Jail on Tuesdays I believe)
stood defiant before the bulldozer as it went towards a tent.
She stopped the removal of a tent, you might say at random, BUT after a fashion a person crawled out of that tent,
fast asleep and buried in blankets or in a sleeping bag when people supposedly checked for occupants.
Now, if that bulldozer had gone unchecked, would ANYONE have ever known they killed someone?
They killed plenty of pets that way, undoubtedly.

(6,896 posts)At the time, it was Bubba from Heat of the Night calling the shots.
He is apologetic these days.
Not the current council and mayor though.
the sheer number of Free Republic participants in Fresno is quite small.
unfortunately, some of them sat on the City Council back when they wrote Jim Robinson a 60k
check for his injured feelings.
Imagine what they would have paid him if they spied on him?
