Rice student mysteriously vanishes on spring break trip

Days after arriving for a spring break trip to Panama City Beach, Fla., a Rice University student walked out of the beach house he and some friends had rented and never returned.

Reny Jose arrived Saturday and disappeared Monday evening, according to Florida's Bay County Sheriff's Office.

A 22-year-old Kingwood man staying at the beach cabin told officers that Jose had taken LSD the evening he disappeared, and had spoken about harming himself.

Sheriff spokeswoman Ruth Corley said Jose's clothing were found in a garbage can behind the house.

Rice University informed students of Jose's disappearance on Tuesday, said Rice spokesman B.J. Almond.
