DUNKIRK, N.Y. (AP) The union representing workers at two ConAgra Foods plants in western New York say the company plans to close the plants, a move that would put more than 400 people out of work.
Representatives with the Service Employees International Union Local 266 told Buffalo media outlets that ConAgra will close its plants in the neighboring Chautauqua County communities of Dunkirk and Fredonia.
The more than 400 employees at the two plants were expected to be officially notified by the company Wednesday morning.

they buy out the company, close it down, kill the union, move the plant, hire people at half or a quarter of the original wage. Meanwhile, those left behind in the old area; experience their own form of mini-depression. They now, in turn, take low paying jobs to support their families and have to work additional shifts to maintain that income. Then when they can't physically maintain that pace, they turn to "help" in the form of something "synthetic" to get them through multiple shifts, not having to sleep or having to eat for extended periods of time. Then they need more and more to keep going then after a while, they no longer work to support their families but their habit instead.
