Rapper Common lends support to Nissan Canton unionization effort

Rapper/actor Common is set to become the latest celebrity to voice support for the United Auto Workers attempt to organize Nissan Canton.
He is scheduled to perform Friday at a concert that also features local musicians and will be attended by pro-union Nissan workers, community members and college students. Its at 8 p.m. at Jackson State Universitys Rose E. McCoy Auditorium.
Admission is free. But those wanting to attend must register online or present a printed ticket or e-ticket on their mobile devices. Registration and ticket information can be found at http://dobetternissan.org.
Actor Danny Glover, who has appeared in Jackson on a number of occasions to rally with union supporters, also is expected to be at Fridays performance. Enlisting Common could help further spread the union supporters message, especially among young people.
