White House says Obamacare enrollment exceeds 6 million

Source: Reuters

The White House said on Thursday that more than 6 million people have now signed up for private insurance plans under President Barack Obama's signature healthcare law known as Obamacare, reflecting a surge in enrollments days before the March 31 deadline.

Ten days ago, the administration had pegged enrollment at more than 5 million people, and enlisted celebrities and top government officials to try to convince more uninsured people - particularly the young and healthy - to sign up.

The last-minute boost has exceeded the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office's estimate that 6 million people would sign up in the program's first year, down from earlier expectations of 7 million enrollees because of problems with websites used for shopping for insurance. 4. if it weren't for O-care, I would have no health insurance. Thank you, Pres. Obama!

I worked all my life as a teacher, left my home for another state to care give for my mother with Alzheimer's for more than 5 yrs, and did private contract work while helping my mother. So I bought my own individual insurance. Then I got cancer and was told by my BCBS insurance co. they couldn't cover me to end of contract due to the ACA. I enlisted the help of my Congressman, Chris van Hollen. Thank Goddess for him and his staff! I got my old contract restored until I could get Obamacare. I love O for this. Without Ocare, I would be paying out of pocket for cancer treatments that are way beyond my ability to pay. I might even lose my beloved home I've worked for 30 yrs. to pay off.

Repukes couldn't care less since they're always taken care of by their rich puppetmasters. I despise them.

7. what do you mean by rollovers?

I am not a rollover, I'm a person who would have had NO insurance without O-care, and I have a life threatening illness.

I guess that's OK with repugs if I couldn't afford the medical care I need. THEY need 5 Rolls Royces sitting in the driveways of their mansions.

9. I had private insurance & was told by BCBS it would end my insurance before contract was over

Gee, just around the time I was diagnosed with a serious life threatening illness and they were starting to get some bills ---for the first time in my life, they had to pay out. Coincidence they wanted to cut me off before the contract was over? I don't think so. They sent me an email on Dec. 17 ---b/c I had emailed them asking what my new premium would cost when the contract ended Jan. 31----saying my insurance was ending on Dec. 31 "due to the ACA." I enlisted the help of my Dem congressman's office and they did a superb job. BCBS then told the congressman its message had a typo about the end date. Yeah, right.

And your point about rollover is....?

10. good luck with your health issues.

many people are having their health insurance
dropped or modified because ACA lets that happen.
Which is a great deal.(if you are the insurance company).
............
my point about rollovers is,
I would like to know how many
of the new ACA policyholders...
were in a good situation,
until they were throw
under the bus.
