House Republicans to Delay Obamacare Replacement Rollout

Source: Bloomberg

House Republicans are delaying the rollout of their alternative proposal to Obamacare, according to lawmakers and aides involved in the process.

The issue is one of “policy, trying to get it all together,” House Majority Whip Kevin McCarthy said when asked why a planned April unveiling was being pushed back.

The Republicans had said they would release the outlines of their proposal to replace President Barack Obama’s 2010 health-care law over the two-week congressional break later this month at town-hall meetings with constituents.

Instead, a Republican leadership aide said the rollout will occur at an unspecified time later this year. Republican leaders are set to meet this week to discuss their plans, McCarthy and Conference Chairman Cathy McMorris Rodgers said.

got it with Obamacare what could they do? They sure won't go with single payer. The only thing they could do is the same old tort reform and selling insurance across state lines bullshit. Been there done that.

Tort reform and selling insurance across state lines. After all this time, that's still all they've got.

From the article:

McMorris Rodgers, the fourth-ranking House Republican, said the combined Republican replacement plan will probably include an expansion of health-savings accounts while allowing consumers to purchase insurance across state lines.

The plan also would probably change health-care liability rules to reduce litigation and malpractice insurance costs for doctors and hospitals, she said last month in an interview with Bloomberg News editors and reporters in New York.

They did one a year or so ago. It was a product of a "Republican Study Group". It would have been laughable except for the cruel consequences of their stupidity. It died a quiet death, unloved and unmourned.

That's the current Republican governing policy in a nutshell: lack of preparedness to govern, lack of policy experience, lack of good sense, and lack of honesty. Or, to put it slightly more bluntly: they're know-nothing liars.

I guess they couldn't have it completed by the April 1st date to coincide with the Ryan Budget. I would definetly like to attend a Repug town hall when they try to explain "THEIR" plan compared to Obamacare!! But, unless your invited to one of their town halls forget about it!! I hope some recently insured person with Obamacare stands up to these repug idiots and tells them in so many words where to go!!!

We have all these people with preexisting conditions that are now getting health insurance. If they include that in their plan then they are going to need a mandate, taxes, or some way to pay for it. If they don't include it, they will be throwing all those people under the bus. It's possible they could come up with a plan including it, but not specify how they are going to pay for it.
