Judge to Ohio: Recognize out-of-state gay marriage
Source: Dayton Daily News
CINCINNATI A federal judge on Monday ordered Ohio authorities to recognize the marriages of same-sex couples performed in other states, the latest court victory for gay rights supporters.
Judge Timothy Black ruled that refusing to recognize gay marriage is a violation of constitutional rights and "unenforceable in all circumstances."
"The record before this court ... is staggeringly devoid of any legitimate justification for the state's ongoing arbitrary discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation," Black wrote.
The order does not force Ohio to allow gay marriages to be performed in the state.

(16,286 posts)now we need a judge to stop every single anti voting measure, law, action in this state
otherwise, what do we do? do we just allow them to stop people from voting because they are the wrong color?

(12 posts)Sooner or later, all the states will have to recognize same sex marriages, and will also have to let them be performed in every state. I realize some people hate this idea, but we are now living in the 21st Century, not in the 1800 hundred age.

(4,033 posts)Remember when people used to go to Nevada to get a 'quickie divorce'? And all the states had to recognize it? It is exactly the same thing with marriage. We got married in California and then moved to Kentucky. There was no issue, so why would a gay marriage be any different? There is that pesky 'full faith and credit' clause in that really ugly document called the Constitution.

(2,157 posts)and I am happy for the married same sex couples across Ohio who will now have their marriage recognized. Yet, the fight in Ohio for marriage equality is far from over, we have a Republican Governor as well as a Republican controlled Legislature & Supreme Court!
