Girl does some high-level networking for jobless dad — at the White House

Source: Omaha World Herald-AP

WASHINGTON (AP) — Michelle Obama's annual question-and-answer session with the children of Executive Office employees took a serious turn Thursday when a 10-year-old girl in the front row told the first lady that her dad had been out of work for three years. Then the girl popped up to hand the first lady his resume.

The first lady explained to the other children, who might not have heard the girl's comment, that the matter was “a little private, but she's doing something for her dad.” Mrs. Obama promised to deal with the matter later.

When the event ended, Mrs. Obama gave the girl, Charlotte Bell, a hug and then reached back to grab the resume off a table as she left the East Room. The first lady played host to the children at the White House on Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day.

Charlotte's family had joked over the weekend about making a job pitch to the first lady, but her parents didn't know she would give it a try, according to her mother, an executive branch employee who did not want to be identified.

I wouldn't be surprised if her dad doesn't get a job offer from this.

during HER husband's administration.

Have we heard anything about Job Creation? Employment Discrimination?

What about long-term unemployment? Does the term "Bully Pulpit" ring a bell?

The White House passivity in the face of monumental suffering in this wealthiest of nations is inexcusable. Get out of Ukraine and bring the fight back home, for peace, justice, and American people!

Ignore the Overlords, and those who THINK they are Overlords.

that is the only one that can actually do something about long-term unemployment.

And that branch is not half-controlled by insane Republicans - People who are literally killing their constituents in order to oppose Obama.

The bully pulpit only goes so far. Especially if the Republicans will oppose anything Obama backs, no matter how much it would help themselves.

Frankly, I think Obama should start demanding a raise for members of the House, so that they'll pass a pay cut.

But the people who can actually do something about it - the "elected" members of Congress - a majority of them in the House seem to me that once Mr. Obama takes a stand on an issue, that they're immediately opposed to it. Trouble is, they're not coming up with solutions to them either.

Congress appears to me to be so totally partisan these days. The House votes to repeal the ACA multiple times... and it goes nowhere in the Senate. Some things I'm sure get done but nothing that appears to be substantive.

As for Ukraine, sending extra US troops to NATO countries that border Ukraine is as far as I'm concerned just a show of support, and intended to deter Russia from kicking it up another notch. Could it become WWIII? Anything's possible. Is it likely that we're looking at WWIII? I don't think so. I think sanctions, the threat of military force, and diplomacy is the way it is being done.

as most know there are 3 branches of government, the President is NOT a king, but is forced to work for us along with the LEGISLATIVE branch, and it has, for years, refused to take pro-people/jobs actions.
