For the US president, a united front with Europe is crucial.

“The notion that for us to go forward with sectoral sanctions on our own, without the Europeans, would be the most effective deterrent to Mr Putin, I think it is factually wrong,” Obama told a news conference.

“We are going to be in a stronger position to deter Mr Putin when he sees that the world is unified and the United States and Europe is unified rather than this is just a US-Russian conflict.”

and it would need only one of the 28 member states to veto the move towards those.

Generally speaking those against are Portugal, Spain, Italy, Greece, Cyprus , Hungary , Latvia .............. If Bulgaria voted in favour it has already become clear that the government would fall.

Mondays sanctions will simply be against further individuals. https://uk.news.yahoo.com/russia-sanctions-extension-existing-measures-uks-hague-102805223.html#uAR0upq

exports. Their argument is that the US won't suffer at all and their economies will suffer greatly. We'll see how it goes. While some of the European countries will perhaps suffer more now, they're also much closer if Putin decides to "grow" Russia on down the road.

Why should they do the right thing and hurt themselves? If they don't come on board...why should Obama take all the risks and why should we put our own children's lives at risk by more warring? If our own congress refuses to respect and support our President, why should anyone else? Isn't this the GOP playbook?
