Election results: Ben Sasse wins GOP Senate primary (NE)

Source: AP-Excite

By Erin Golden

LINCOLN — Midland University president Ben Sasse sailed to the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate.

In a battle for an open Senate seat, Sasse overtook early front-runner and former State Treasurer Shane Osborn and he fought back a late surge from Pinnacle Bank chairman Sid Dinsdale.

The Sasse campaign gained national attention for his Tea Party-aligned message, which won him the backing of various Tea Party leaders and national groups. The conservative groups who backed him poured in more than $2 million to boost Sasse and take down his rivals.

But Sasse also built a vast grassroots team across Nebraska — an effort that paid off Tuesday.

It's an ELCA (Evangelical Lutheran Church of America) school.

I can't believe how scary he is. He MIGHT even be more radical then Ted Cruz. Shutter. Is there ANY POSSIBLE way for the Democrat to win?

I have no idea on the dynamics of the race. We might have to ask someone from Nebraska. I've visited there a few times. It's a nice place.

Unless Sasse is caught in some very uncompromising position, the seat is his. We can only hope! Dave Domina the Democratic candidate just doesn't have the support and name recognition across the state. Plus, the DNC is throwing little help to him as they see this seat as firmly in the hands of the Republicans.

I guess he didn't read this part of his holy book, and neither did those who voted for him!!!
