LINCOLN — Nebraska's Republican Senate nominee Ben Sasse and his former rivals turned to handshakes and praise Wednesday morning after a bitterly fought GOP primary.
“You take your lumps and you move on. Now it's about electing Ben Sasse,” said former State Treasurer Shane Osborn.
In the battle for retiring Sen. Mike Johanns' seat, Sasse overtook Osborn, the early front-runner. And Sasse fought back a late surge from Pinnacle Bank Chairman Sid Dinsdale.
In the end, Sasse swept to victory with nearly 50 percent of the vote in a four-way race.
