NBC Newss Lester Holt on Wednesday night anchored NBC Nightly News, substituting for Brian Williams, who was said to be on assignment.
Accurate: Williams went to Russia for an exclusive interview with famous National Security Agency whistleblower Edward Snowden, an NBC News source confirms.
Thats not all. Glenn Greenwald, who helped boost the Guardian to a public-service Pulitzer Prize, showed up as well. The result of all this on-the-sly travel will be a tripartite NBC News interview extravaganza: one session of several hours with Williams and Snowden, which will constitute the majority of the on-air presentation; one with Williams and Greenwald; and a third with Williams and both Snowden and Greenwald. As opposed to conducting the interview, which he did previously with Snowden, Greenwald will be an interviewee in this go-round. The NBC News primetime special from the interview will air on May 28 at 10 p.m. EST.
The timing works for Greenwald, who recently embarked on a book tour for No Place to Hide: Edward Snowden, the NSA, and the U.S. Surveillance State.

(18,791 posts)Traitor Eddie how he now likes being Comrade Snowden? And about shitting on his girlfriend, crapping on his family and conning his fellow workers out of their logins and pins?
You are such an honest and upright person...not.
Greenwad and Snowden make me puke.

(5,082 posts)I thought I would just check on this thread to see the desperate police state purveyors come out and I was right. Same ones. Still waiting for the rest of your supporters Can't you make a point without profanity? At this point I'm laughing even though so many of us fought so hard against people not just with your views but how you present them. NSA no doubt monitors threads about them and at least they are happy they have a foot soldier out there that takes their side. I hear they are hiring but they always are. That's the difference between us and them. We don't have endless taxpayer cash to manipulate public sentiment so I must still applaud you for stating your view no matter how abhorrent to me or other freedom fighters. As reported by NYT NSA's online opinion management teams are well funded but I dont think they would like me even though I worked for NASA at one point. There is room for all opinions from all types of Americans even on DU it appears. Years ago I thought only Republicans had these views but I was wrong and must accept diversity at long last.

(12,530 posts)Yes, Brian Williams will travel halfway around the world to see one of the world's most compelling (infamous?) people, and he'll use the opportunity to engage in Gotcha Girlfriend Journalism. You sound like a Columbia School of Journalism grad. What year?

(249 posts)I wouldn't put it past the CIA, NSA, etc. to plant an oncovirus or something similar on Ed through the "fake news crew". It's the new stealth way to take out someone and never leave fingerprints. I always thought it was weird that Castro and Hugo Chavez caught cancer or died of it. If I was Snowden I'd only meet via the computer. He may meet with them and then contract cancer 6 months from now and die. I'm just sayin'.
