Two of three expert witnesses say admitting privileges not necessary for safety of women

Source: (Madison, WI) Capital Times

The doctor chosen by the federal judge as an impartial expert in the trial over Wisconsin’s law that requires abortion providers have admitting privileges to a hospital within 30 miles of their clinic said Thursday the law will lead to an “unacceptable experiment.”

“I think it is an unacceptable experiment to see if you decrease access (to abortion clinics) and see if more women die,” said Dr. Serdar Bulun, chair of Northwestern University’s department of obstetrics and gynecology.

Wisconsin has four abortion clinics: one in Appleton, two in Milwaukee and one in Madison. If the ruling is upheld, the Affiliated Medical Services clinic in Milwaukee would close.

The AMS clinic is the only clinic in Wisconsin that provides late-term abortions, which means women would be have to travel out of state to have an abortion after 19 weeks into their pregnancy.

The War is NOT about "safety." It's ONLY about shutting off all medical abortive services, period. blkmusclmachine May 2014 #6

Anyone who thinks that's what it's all about is not really in on the joke.

It's about making abortion functionally and de facto illegal.

It's about humiliating women in an effort to impose de facto restrictions where they can't manage de jure restrictions.
