(2,510 posts)He can face a politicized lynching, get locked up, water boarded and ass-raped by the justice system.
Why don't you head over there and tell him how wrong he is, comrade stonecutter.
I swear, we are living in bizzaro world when "democrats" degenerate whistle-blowers and use "comrade" as a term of derision. Pathetic.

(12,697 posts)And way would you call me comrade i didn't steal your Metadata and run to china and then Russia.
hueymahl
(2,510 posts)He did not run off to China and Russia. He was trying to get to an asylum in South America. We forced him to stay in Russia by cancelling his passport and forcing planes down (including diplomatically protected ones!!!) looking for him.
And he did not steal metadata - that is a right-wing justification used by Republicans and statist democrats to justify the unconstitutional spying on american citizens. He "stole" (your term) documents that blow the whistle on unconstitutional acts and prove that the government was collecting personal information, including metadata. It is not possible to steal the amount of metadata and other information that has been collected by the NSA and other agencies - you would need tractor-trailers full of hard drives to steal it.
Keep propping up those straw men. I'll keep pointing out the truth.

(11,495 posts)Then I bet you also would "whistle" at all the new posters with low counts that come on this board, trash the president daily and then get furious when anyone dares to speak out against GG and Snowden?

(12,697 posts)Edward Snowden, in an interview , said that he was trained as a spy and provided the government with all levels of technical expertise and denied critics claims that he was a mere hacker.

I applaud him for detailing what most of us knew already (maybe not the extend) but had no facts.
If it was a person that had done wrong and you worked for that person would you hold your tongue or have big brass balls and make the facts known?

(8,032 posts)It's telling that the comrades keep trying to make Snowden the issue, instead of what he revealed.
I never thought I'd see the day when Democrats became the reactionaries.

(32,886 posts)Whenever Putin is feeling the pressure of the international community or the US getting after him on human rights abuses or unprovoked wars of aggression, out will come Snowden giving him cover.
The original application for asylum from Snowden suggested that he feared being tortured or facing the death penalty, both lies that Putin and his government were happy to accept just so they could use Eddie as a propaganda piece.

We claim to wear the white hat despite having committed far worse atrocities than Russians ever did. Remember Native Americans? Remember slavery? Remember Abu Ghraib - the pictures and details of which have been suppressed from the public? Remember the secret prisons in Egypt, Morocco, Romania and Poland?

(11,014 posts)I think Putin is going to fly Snowden to Cuba with him (on his upcoming visit) and from there, he will be whisked to Ecuador.
The CIA would not dare to detain Putin's plane like they did Bolivia's president Evo Morales's plane in Vienna.

(32,886 posts)The same brinksmanship Putin employed in Crimea can be employed on him.
Ultimately, what's the recourse?

I'll chalk it up to humor or juvenile angst.

Again, what is the recourse? The same one available to us in Crimea. One that cannot be used.

(101,361 posts)Of course Russia has ways of retaliating against the west for violating the rights of their president that Bolivia didn't have. They can break up the various international talks that Russia is part of (eg Iran). They can suspend delivery of oil and gas to Europe. They can veto Security Council resolutions. They can increase support to Syria.
If you can't think of that, I wonder how you've managed to keep up with discussions on DU. What's your job, again?

(101,361 posts)and if Obama didn't think something was worth doing, then Putin wouldn't think it worth doing either.
Which makes you the most ignorant person to ever claim to know anything about world politics.
How the hell has anyone ever invited you on TV? You're making Sarah Palin look like genius.
stevenleser
(32,886 posts)The other poster suggested the US "wouldn't dare do the same thing to Putin as we did to Morales".
Again, there is no real reason why. All the retaliatory measures you listed would also hurt Russia.

(11,014 posts)Although, you'd have more luck persuading Sarah Palin of the reality. Even Sarah wouldn't advocate intercepting Putin's plane on an official visit.

Could almost see it now, our jets scramble outside of Florida and demand he land in Miami. They say no. One of our jets fire a warning shot, on of their jets in the Russian Military escort fire a warning shot back (and calls for more jets from Cuba). If the US downs any plane, they will respond in kind....and you have war.
