Jury: Dodgers partly responsible for Stow beating
Source: SF Gate
A jury found Wednesday that the Los Angeles Dodgers were partly responsible for the 2011 beating of Giants fan Bryan Stow and awarded the Santa Cruz man $18 million from the team and the two men who attacked him.
Stow and his family sued the team and its former owner Frank McCourt for negligence, claiming that Dodgers management did not provide enough security at Dodger Stadium to prevent an assault that left Stow permanently disabled.
The suit filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court on behalf of Stow and his family sought more than $50 million for Stow's lifetime care for a traumatic brain injury.
Stow, a 45-year-old former paramedic, was attacked in the stadium parking lot after an Opening Day game against the San Francisco Giants on March 31, 2011. Two men, Louie Sanchez and Marvin Norwood, were sentenced in February to eight and four years in prison, respectively, after pleading guilty to felony charges in the attack.

NO individual will EVER be able to successfully sue ANY corp for ANY death or injury they cause, not EVER

I understand why the guy sued, but the perpetrators of the attack should be the ones who have to pay.

(44,173 posts)And all these conservatives pissing and moaning about large jury verdicts to personal injury victims; that problem could be ameliorated with national health care.
The man sued because he probably can never work again and will have a lifetime of medical and physical therapy bills. If we had national health care Medicare for All, his lawsuit would not be necessary.

The McCourts never should have been approved as owners since it was evident at the start that a lot of their wealth was on paper only...
