The Israeli military says it is ordering Palestinians living in the northern Gaza Strip to evacuate the area “for their own safety.”

In a statement Saturday, the military said it would send messages to residents overnight to leave the area.

Brig. Gen. Motti Almoz, the chief military spokesman, said Israel planned to hit the area with heavy force in the next 24 hours as it steps up an offensive against Gaza militants.

Officials say the area has been used to fire rockets at Tel Aviv.

And the best place for them to evacuate to, the North and South, are Israeli held territories and thus no person from Gaza can cross without permission of Israel. That is 217 square miles.

Rhode Island is six times as large as the Gaza Strip:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rhode_Island

While Harlem in New York City is only 3.9 Square Miles, it is a good comparison to answer the question "Evacute to where?". Where would the Southern Half of Harlem evacuate to, if it could NOT go to the southern parts of Manhattan nor go anywhere by boat, plane or use any bridges?, but it had to evacuate? Where? The answer is no where, for any place they can evacuate to, they would be forbidden to go to. The one place they can evacuate to, is a heavily populated slum, that will be subject to the same restrictions as the people of Harlem would be restricted to in my comparison.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harlem

Another comaparons is with Washington DC, which is 68.3 Square miles, but where would people go, if they can NOT go into Virginia or Maryland, but told to evacute the "Northern" half of DC? If you want to make it closer to the 217 Square Miles of Gaza, where would people within the Belt way go if ordered away from the beltway, but could NOT cross the beltway (or enter the belt way)?

Gaza is one of the most heavily populated areas in the world, it is some of the richest farm lands in the world (Thus the heavy rural population on top of the Palestinains refugees). Thus you are limited to where you can move people to. Thus the issue is where are these people to go? And the Israeli answer is NOT into Israel. Thus this statement is meant NOT to minimize civilan causatlies but so that Israel can CLAIM it warned people to move, thus any civilians causalties are claimed to be the fault of the People of Gaza NOT on Israeli's decison to bomb them.

In a sane world, with intelligent journalists reporting the news, these matters as you spell them out would be raised, rather than a plethora of headlines that shows the "humanity" of the Israeli military state.

BTW a movie that basically screams out the total inhumanity of the Jewish religion's lack of tolerance is "The Other Son." The movie depicts the lives of two young men, who had been switched at birth inside a hospital in Israel. One baby was a Palestinian baby, but went on to be raised by a Jewish family. The other baby was a Jewish baby that ended up being raised by a Palestinian family. The Jewish faith, through its hold on the rabbi, immediately ousts the young man who had thought he was Jewish, been raised by his Jewish family as a Jewish person etc. This young man was told by the rabbi that had to jump through a bunch of religious protocols and hoops just to be deemed Jewish, and he refused to do it.

according Ma'an there have been 151 deaths which jibes with your article see Ma'an below and it seems since the beginning of the weekend there has been a definite uptick in the death rate in Gaza the number reached 100 yesterday starting from Tuesday now we have 50 more in the past day it seems

At least 15 Palestinians were killed in new Israeli strikes on Gaza City late on Saturday, medics in the coastal enclave said.

"At least 15 Palestinians were killed in an Israeli strike on the Tuffah neighborhood in Gaza City that hit a house and a mosque," emergency services spokesman Ashraf al-Qidra said.

Another 35 were wounded in the same strike, and one more person was killed in southern Gaza's Rafah that also injured five people, Qidra said.

The strikes came after Hamas launched a barrage of long-range rockets at Israeli cities including Tel Aviv, after issuing a warning that it would strike.

The new deaths brought the toll in the fifth day of the conflict to 151, with more than 1,000 people wounded.

And then it's fleeing south again, then maybe a little westward to bomb the east.

Everyone who doesn't scurry to and fro, or who lingers, or you know can't scurry due to being aa disabled person in a care home, well, they absolutely deserve to die, don't they?

who's population totals around 233,000 and that doesn't count the thousands of other who also live there, so for those who try to perhaps prejustify or blame deaths I'd like to see them explain exactly what are nearly a quarter of a million people supposed of who are already refugees supposed to do?

refugee camps

Al-Shati 87,000

Bureij, 34,000

Jabalia, 110,000

For these people, it's enough that Israel demanded "scurry or die" - if they don't scurry, well then Israel is obligated to kill them, I guess.

The price Israel will eventually have to pay could be such as to make many of her enemies cry for pity.

The butcher's bill is already staggering, and it is still growing.

It's always different if it is someone else besides Israel doing these crimes against humanity.

And, it's up to the Israeli People to try to remember what it was for them ....through thousands of years of persecution....when they become what was done to them. That's the sad thing that we often become what we hated when "WE" of all cultures or nationalities were targeted throughout History.

Drop leaflets? Announce addresses over the radio or telly?
Does anyone know? And this article says some don't leave quickly enough - how much time do they have to gather their loved ones and leave?
