GAZA OFFICIAL: 10 DEAD AFTER STRIKE NEAR UN SCHOOL

Aug. 3, 2014 4:59 AM EDT

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip (AP) — A Gaza health official says 10 people have been killed by a strike near a United Nations school in the embattled coastal territory.

Ashraf al-Kidra says another 35 were wounded after the hit near a boys' school in the southern town of Rafah that is sheltering people displaced by the 27-day conflict between Israel and Hamas.

Witnesses said the attack happened while people were waiting in line for food supplies. It was not immediately clear whether the strike was the result of Israeli or Palestinian fire.

The Israeli military had no immediate comment and the U.N. said it was not immediately clear where the strike originated.

3. UNRWA Condemns Placement of Rockets, for a Second Time, in One of Its Schools
Sun Aug 3, 2014, 07:06 AM
Aug 2014

oday, in the course of the regular inspection of its premises, UNRWA discovered rockets hidden in a vacant school in the Gaza Strip. As soon as the rockets were discovered, UNRWA staff were withdrawn from the premises, and so we are unable to confirm the precise number of rockets. The school is situated between two other UNRWA schools that currently each accommodate 1,500 internally displaced persons.

UNRWA strongly and unequivocally condemns the group or groups responsible for this flagrant violation of the inviolability of its premises under international law.

The Agency immediately informed the relevant parties and is pursuing all possible measures for the removal of the objects in order to preserve the safety and security of the school. UNRWA will launch a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding this incident.

UNRWA has reinforced and continues to implement its robust procedures to maintain the neutrality of all its premises, including a strict no-weapons policy and regular inspections of its installations, to ensure they are only used for humanitarian purposes.

Palestinian civilians in Gaza rely on UNRWA to provide humanitarian assistance and shelter. At all times, and especially during escalations of violence, the sanctity and integrity of UN installations must be respected.

typical and highly unfortunate.

The question you should be asking is WHAT DOES HAMAS REALLY CARE ABOUT?

It obviously isn't the lives of the civilians in Gaza, if they are willing to endanger them by firing from and keeping weapons where children gather to learn or get medical treatment(hospitals as well).

So what is it? Do they even have an aim?

And it can be expected that the "wannabe martyrs" are hiding most of their weapons in Schools, within visibility of the Israeli's satellites just so that children are bombed and they can scream victim later!

"Why Hamas stores its weapons inside hospitals, mosques and schools

The United Nations has found troves of rockets hidden in three of its schools since the conflict began.“We condemn the group or groups who endangered civilians by placing these munitions in our school,” Chris Gunness, spokesman for the U.N. Relief and Works Agency, said in statement published Wednesday by the Times of Israel. “This is yet another flagrant violation of the neutrality of our premises. We call on all the warring parties to respect the inviolability of U.N. property.”

Earlier this month, the United Nations also found rockets piled inside one of its vacant schools — near other schools used to accommodate displaced people."

Creepy Character on Hamas TV Show Teaches Kids to ‘Shoot Jews’

A Palestinian children’s television program called Tomorrow’s People on a Hamas-affiliated TV network is teaching kids that it’s the responsibility of police to “shoot Jews,” in a clip posted by Palestinian Media Watch, in which a little child says she’d like to become a cop “so that I can shoot Jews.”

The young host asks, “All of them?” The child responds, “Yes.”

But it’s not just shooting Jews that the show advocates. The strange mascot on the program tells children to “punch them, make their face red like a tomato.” It also says to “take a stone, and when the Jews come… take it and throw it at them.”

This isn’t the first instance of this sort of propaganda popping up on Palestinian children’s television. The same show used to feature a Mickey Mouse-like mascot that made the Jewish people into villains that must be annihilated."

It’s All Hamas’ Fault, Right Israel? by Gideon Levy Jul. 31, 2014

http://www.haaretz.com/opinion/.premium-1.608118#!

Why did Gazans elect Hamas, instead of a moderate leadership? Because the moderates have been trying for years to achieve something, anything, and all they have received is humiliation and Israeli rejectionism. Has Israel given the Palestinians a reason to choose the Palestine Liberation Organization’s route of diplomacy over Hamas’ violent resistance? Has the PLO brought them an inch closer to statehood or freedom?

Hamas at least won the release of 1,000 prisoners and also preserved a measure of self-respect, even at the terrible price that the desperate Gazans are now willing to pay. What has Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas brought his people? Nothing. A photo op with Barack Obama.

I’m no fan of Hamas, quite the contrary. But Israel’s attempt to put all the blame on Hamas is outrageous. The international community will soon judge this war’s atrocities. Hamas may be reprimanded, deservedly, but Israel will be condemned and ostracized far more. And then Israelis will say, ‘It’s Hamas’ fault. And the world will laugh.

Why Hamas Won Gaza - Bill Clinton

http://www.kpfk.org/index.php/programs/51-michael-slate/8263-tmss-140718

Michael Slate: You’ve talked about this situation today being an incremental genocide, and it seems to me you’re saying there’s been a qualitative leap in what’s going on, and I want to talk with you about that; because it’s also related to what we’re talking about in relation to Gaza and what they’re doing in this sense too, that the particularities of the Gaza Strip make it clear that any collective punitive action—I think this is something you’ve said—like what’s going on now, could only be an operation of massive killing and destruction, a continued genocide. So is this a leap in the situation as you see it?

Ilan Pappé: Always with this case, with Israeli policy, it’s a small leap in terms of numbers of troops used, numbers of people targeted, numbers of people killed. But it’s a bit worse than the previous one, and you can imagine that the next one will be even worse. But I think it began in 2006. We have to remember how it also began even in the short term, let alone a more general historical context. It began when, in 2006, encouraged by the American discourse and propaganda about democracy, Palestinians went to the polling station, in January 2006, and thought that they were really spearheading democracy in the Middle East, and they chose a government. And the reaction of Israel, with the help of the United States, was to ghetto-ize them, without any way of getting in or getting out, and slowly cutting their rations of food and strangulating them.

It was very clear that even if you don’t bomb Gaza every two years from the air, the sea and the land, you are creating a situation in terms of human conditions that in the long run by itself can turn into a genocide. Let alone that in four waves since 2006, you use Merkava tanks, which are the most ferocious tanks in the world: F-16s, Apache helicopters, naval gunships and phosphorus bombs—by the way, all of them made in the United States, I should say to your listeners. All these horrible lethal weapons have been used four times on top of the strangulation, the starvation since 2006 as a punishment for exercising democracy. It’s unbelievable if you think about it.

The naked truth about Palestine is infuriating, the way it is being reported elsewhere. I think this is why I call it incremental genocide, because you can see this combination of the military on the one hand, and that narrative that somehow legitimizes in the West this ghetto-ization of almost two million people. How else can it end, if not with a massive destruction of the Gaza Strip?

Palestinian families brave sirens, checkpoints for help with heart defects.

Even as Israeli air strikes are taking the lives of Palestinian children during Operation Protective Edge, Israeli doctors in Holon are laboring to save the lives of Palestinian children born with heart defects.

The Walla news website reports that even on the day that the operation launched on Tuesday, seven Palestinian children arrived at Wolfson Medical Center in Holon for treatment. One of the children did not make it into Israel.

"It does not matter what side of the political map you are on," said Dr. Akiva Tamir, head of pediatric cardiology at Wolfson. "The parents of these children want them to live – just like parents [in Israel]."

One of the mothers said that she and her son, Marwan, arrived from Gaza via the Erez Crossing. "When we arrived at the checkpoint, there was suddenly a siren," she said, according to Walla. "They quickly brought us to the bathroom. We hid there until it calmed down, and we continued on our way. Despite it all, I had to arrive. It does not matter what the situation is outside."

All while Hama's is doing everything it can to make sure Palestinians keep dying to support their anti-Israel propaganda while they continue firing Missiles..................

"Hamas prevents 3 Gazan children of life-saving treatment in Israel

Islamic organization won't let kids suffering from systemic arthritis to get a monthly shot that would stop the disease from inflaming again.

Hamas is preventing three Gazan children, who desperately need medicine they could only get in Israel, from leaving the Strip to Israel. The three children, aged 5, 10 and 12, are suffering from systemic arthritis and are all in mortal peril.

A year ago, the Palestinian children joined a study conducted by the Sheba Medical Center in Tel HaShomer and the pharmaceutical company Novartis AG, which requires the children to receive a monthly injection to treat the diseases. The study itself has ended, but the children need to continue receiving their medication in order to continue their treatment.

The children's situation has significantly improved while receiving the treatment. But now that the treatment has been stopped, the children are at risk of a renewed inflammation of the disease that could cause liver failure, disabilities and at some cases death.

Systemic Arthritis, that appears in one of every 4,000 children, is often a more severe form of Juvenile Idiopathic Arthritis. It affects many parts of the body, rather than just the joints.

Children or teenagers who suffer from Systematic Arthritis experience joint pain or swelling. If the disease is severe, the sick child may have inflammation around his heart, lungs, or bowels. Also, the immune system may start to destroy blood cells. Patients also experience spiked fever, fatigue and the general feeling of unwell.

On Friday night, in the Palestinian village of Beitin near Ramallah, a month-old baby Palestinian baby started to choke in her home while playing with her sister. The mother brought the baby to an IDF checkpoint near the Beit El Division Headquarters.

An IDF officer from the division noticed the panicking mother with the choking infant in her arms. He immediately called the nearest IDF doctor. Within a few minutes, Sec. Lt. Ben Tzanani and his team were at the scene and saved the baby’s life.

“I got a phone call about a baby choking, and so I called up my medical team,” said sec. Lt. Tzanani. “My medical team and I were first on the scene. I asked the family to bring the baby to our ambulance and I started to check her vitals.” The medical team provided initial stabilizing treatment"

U.N. Informed Israel 17 Times About Gaza School Shelter Before Attack

United Nations officials had told the Israeli military 17 times that a school in Gaza’s biggest refugee camp was a shelter for Palestinian civilians fleeing fighting in the teeming coastal strip, but it was not enough to save them from deadly shelling.

Blown to pieces as they huddled asleep on mattresses on classroom floors, at least 15 men, women and children were killed and more than 100 wounded when Israeli artillery fire struck Jabalya Girls Elementary School on Wednesday, U.N. officials said.

The victims had fled their homes in other battle zones hoping they would be safe under the blue-and-white U.N. flag.

Abdel-Karim al-Masamha, 27, said he and his family had come to the school after fleeing fighting near their home in the northern Gaza Strip.

“We did not find safety here,” he said. “People were martyred before our eyes. They were dismembered.”

- snip -

But UNRWA chief Pierre Krahenbuhl said the agency had given the school’s precise location to the Israeli military 17 times, with the last notification made just hours before the shelling.

“I condemn in the strongest possible terms this serious violation of international law by Israeli forces,” he said in a statement.
