Rep. Steve King: Ferguson Protestors Are Of A Single 'Continental Origin'

Source: Talking Points Memo

Rep. Steve King (R-IA) said on Wednesday that he saw no reason to be concerned about the possibility of racial profiling in police clashes with protesters in Ferguson, Mo. because the protestors all appeared to be of a single "continental origin."

King appeared on Newsmax TV on Wednesday where host J.D. Hayworth asked him about the escalating conflict in Ferguson. When asked about the concerns raised by members of the Congressional Black Caucus about the possibility of racial profiling, King said those were unsubstantiated.

"This idea of no racial profiling," King said, "I've seen the video. It looks to me like you don't need to bother with that particular factor because they all appear to be of a single, you know, of a single origin, I should say, a continental origin might be the way to phrase that."

King then stated that he prefers to "reject race-based politics, identity politics" because "we're all God's children and we all should be held to the same standards and the same level of behavior."

According to Mr. King and Tea Party doctrine, the only true Americans are white Americans.

Blacks should go back to Africa, Asians back to Asia and Latinos, including Navajo, Hopi, Lakota, Arapaho, Iroquois, etc. should go back to Latin America. Only white people should remain in North America because God created them there.

I'm sure Mr. King can find something in Genesis to support that, although I couldn't find it when I read it, and re-read it a dozen times looking for that part, but he's a good Christian and knows the Bible better than I do.

On the other hand, I think if Mr. King or Dave and Charlie Koch want to live on a planet just like Venus, then they should go back to Venus.

I've been on that one a while. How do these clowns get into office to poison the political environment? We the people put these clowns in office. Romney got 47% of the vote. I can never forget that one, never will. That's why racism will never be eradicated from american systems and institutions. Period. I've been fighting racism for 51 years, 20th and 21st century century, my father did, 20th century, my grandfather did, 19th century and 20th century, my great grandfather, 18th century......and well that's a different story, more pain, more heinous......and now the Trayvon Martins and Michael Browns are not only fighting racism, still, 21st century and more than likely into the 22nd century and beyond, they are dying because of america's systemic and institutionalized racial HATE!!!! There is no excuse, ever, for such long lived stupidity and ignorance.

And I, too, have wondered aloud here many times - WHO THE HELL VOTES FOR THESE JERKS????? THAT is where the real problem lies. "U.S. Senate Democrats are also making Steve King their conservative bogeyman du jour, blaming him for the lack of immigration reform efforts coming out of the Republican-controlled U.S. House.

Governor Branstad and Republicans around the country chipped in to help Steve King overcome Christie Vilsack in 2012. Conservatives across the state also rallied to his aid. This year, there are four federal races and a Branstad reelection effort that have all overshadowed Steve King’s reelection bid.

Despite holding a voter registration advantage of more than 50,000 in the Fourth District, Congressman King, his advisors and Iowa Republicans as a whole need to realize that they cannot take this race for granted. Jim Mowrer is a credible challenger. It is time to treat him like one."
