Ferguson pledges outreach efforts after shooting

Source: AP-EXCITE

FERGUSON, Mo. (AP) — Ferguson's leaders urged residents Tuesday to stay home after dark to "allow peace to settle in" and pledged several actions to reconnect with the predominantly black community in the St. Louis suburb where the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Michael Brown has sparked nightly clashes between protesters and police.

According to a statement from the city, Ferguson's mayor, City Council and other employees have been exploring how to increase the number of African American applicants to the law enforcement academy, develop incentive programs to encourage city residency for police officers and raise funds for cameras that would be attached to patrol car dashboards and officers' vests.

"We plan to learn from this tragedy, as we further provide for the safety of our residents and businesses and progress our community through reconciliation and healing," the leaders said in the statement Tuesday.

The National Guard arrived in Ferguson Monday but kept its distance from the streets during another night of unrest.

The profiling and shooting and military style has to go away too. I don't hear anything about that.
Also the main thing people want is to see the cop shooter behind bars.
I don't think the city leaders get it.

If you want to voice your concerns you can do it on Sunday in Church otherwise you can go to your designated "community leader" to voice your displeasure they will then compile a list of the top 5 complaints and discuss those with the Media and government officials on a set date.

Now shut up and keep walking, any resistance (or gathering) will be met with arrest and/or deadly force.

Havent you heard?

The 1st amendment doesnt apply in some communities

Edit: And if you say something we don't like in Church we'll just have the IRS look into revoking your Church's tax exempt status like the Bush admin did back in 2006 to All Saints Episcopal Church in Pasadena California

In all seriousness. This country makes me sick.

along with every single one on the St. Louis Co. force including chiefs, your "outreach" is meaningless.

They've been showing just how they do "outreach" for the past ten days - with tear gas and flash-bangs, and clubs and APCs and pretty guns all in a row.

"Outreach"? Jesus Christ.

they "learn" from the situation they helped create?

Don't stay home, Ferguson citizens! Grab an American flag and march!

These white leaders failed to learn from history and therefore, they repeated the same racist and militant actions of their predecessors.
