China Will Sell HJ-12 Missiles That Can Destroy America’s Best Tanks
Source: Epoch Times
The Chinese regime is putting the finishing touches on its new HJ-12 anti-tank missiles. Its soldiers will be toting around the new weapons, which can destroy modern third-generation tanks, and China is also planning to sell the portable missile systems.
The HJ-12 is an anti-tank weapon. Its able to target tanks close to 2.5 miles away, according to China Daily, the English edition of Chinas state-owned Peoples Daily.
Chinas previous-generation anti-tank weapons have shown up in the hands of rebel groups around the world, including with ISIS. The video below shows Islamic combatants, allegedly with ISIS, firing a Chinese-made HJ-8 anti-tank missile at a Syrian tank.
Among the tanks the new weapon could allegedly destroy are Americas M1 Abrams, Russias T-90, and Japans Type 90 Kyū-maru. The modern, third-generation tanks were beyond the destructive capabilities of most troop-carried anti-tank weapons, but Chinas new HJ-12 aims to change that.

(5,103 posts)These days tanks are produced just for the jobs in a district. They have been replaced by aircraft both manned and unmanned.
Bring home the pork, but tanks are really obsolete!
Sorry tankers!

If China's making it easier for us to quit wasting money we borrow from them on tanks we don't need, then we owe them a solid because that's good for the US.

(9,436 posts)and hold ground. The same can be said of The Gulf War in 1991 and the Iraq War. During the occupation, they were used more for fire support for the infantry taking out insurgent strong points than for fighting other tanks.
(Not making a judgement call on the use of tanks today just pointing out that their use evolved since their invention in WW1.)

(15,882 posts)are bent over microscopes staring at an itty, witty, bitty little virus, lovingly teaching it to do their will. If they are successful the virus will leave all those weapons sitting in a field, because hundreds of thousands of people will be dead while the ones who are left are dying or too terrified of the itty, witty, bitty virus to climb up on the guns and shoot at each other, maybe before we make the planet uninhabitable with our climate changing ways.
Either way, those weapons will look so small then. Peace of a sort, but still, no winners.

(38,958 posts)probably long overdue, warfare has always been a game of one-upmanship between protection and weaponry. The 3rd generation tanks such as the M1 have been on top for a long time, I am sure that some adjustments will be made to render these new anti-tank missiles less effective and then the game will continue on as it always has.
