Schauer edges ahead of Snyder, 45% to 43%, in new governor race poll

Source: Detroit Free Press

LANSING — Democratic challenger Mark Schauer has edged ahead of Gov. Rick Snyder by two percentage points, according to a new poll of likely voters in the Nov. 4 election.

The results from EPIC-MRA of Lansing come just before the Labor Day holiday which is seen as the kickoff of the main campaign season and were released exclusively to the Free Press, WXYZ-TV (Channel 7) and statewide media partners. A 2-point lead is within the poll’s margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points, meaning the race remains a statistical dead heat.

Of 600 likely voters surveyed between Friday and Monday, 45% said they support Schauer, 43% said they support Snyder, and 12% were undecided or wouldn’t say.

When EPIC-MRA last polled voters, in July, 46% said they would support Snyder, 43% said they would support Schauer, and 11% were undecided or wouldn’t say.

Great news for Detroit in particular. I assume Schauer would kick Kevyn Orr's butt to the curb.

She told me that she went to an expo in Novi & there was a campaign table set up for Synder. She kept telling them over & over what a great man he is & a super powerful one as well, she went on & on with wonderful thing's to say about him. She told them again in the end just how powerful he was, she said they were so giddy with all her compliments, her last word's to them was his powerfulness turned her into a Democrat for the first time in her life... she said talk about jaw dropping! I know her on a personal basis & believe me she is a republican, we've had many, many, many disagreements about politics.....

How many votes does he get from Detroit? Not many, I'm betting.

My shit list:

Abbott (seeking to succeed Perry) - Texas
Brownback - Kansas
Corbett - Pennsylvania
Deal - Georgia
Kaisich - Ohio
LaPage - Maine
McCrory - North Carolina
Scott - Florida
Snyder - Michigan
Walker - Wisconsin

Principle offences:
(1) Pushing and enforcing undemocratic emergency manager legislation
(2) Pushing and enforcing undemocratic racist voter ID legislation
(3) Pushing and enforcing misogynist legislation aimed at a woman's right to make her medical decisions, including approval of the Hobby Lobby decision
(4) Pushing and enforcing anti-gay legislation to nullify gay marriage or twist the concept of religious freedom
(5) Hands off approach to corporate polluters or crooked bankers
(6) Embracing trickle down economics
(7) Taking money from the Koch brothers or other crooked campaign finance dealing or just plain corruption
(8) Just being an asshole like LaPage

Spyder Snyder also cut taxes on business and raised them on retirees. As blatant a re-distribution of wealth from poor to rich as has ever been seen.

Cutting taxes on the rich, regardless of whether taxes are raised on the poor, falls under trickle-down economics. Union busting seems to be another animal altogether. That gives legislative relief to corporations seeking to cut costs by lowering wages and safety standards. Profitable corporations, and the assholes made of flesh and blood hiding behind corporate logos, don't need that kind of legislative relief.

It should be noted that re-distributing wealth upwards in conjunction with legislation designed to make it more difficult for the poor and what's left of the middle class to vote amounts to taxation without representation. which ever staunch Republicans would agree is about as un-American as they can get, if they weren't such willfully blind hypocrites.

... shit list you've got there. You forgot to put Snyder on the top, though.

Yeah, I recommend your shit-list, no matter how you rank 'em. I hope every single one that's up for re-election in Nov is forcefully flushed down the commode.

It was too difficult to say who should be in second place and really a close call to put Snyder first. However, since he has the power to appoint an emergency manager who can effectively fire the elected city council, Snyder is the greatest threat to democracy among them. They are all threats to democracy. The modern GOP doesn't believe in democracy and is rather brazen about it.

Here in California, where we have a governor we can proudly re-elect, nincompoops from quiet places like Iowa may get overlooked.

I see this gentleman has a habit of winning gubernatorial elections in Iowa. He's running for his sixth term. Some in Iowa obviously think he's got something going for himself.

Please, Mr. Sogenfjord, don't be shy. Step up to the mike and tell us why Terry Branstad deserves to be a part of this select group.

Snyder ran as a centrist and orignally said Right To Work was not good for Michigan. I saw through that Bush Jr. like smirk on his face and knew full-well he was a Koch wolf in sheep's clothing.

4 years later, this state has crumbling infrastructure, a Right To Work For Less law, terrible anti-choice legislation in place, and one of the crappiest tax structures in the nation.

Some centrist....

Rick "The Dictator" Snyder is. If we don't vote that cretin out of office, I fear that he and the bagger legislature will succeed in turning my once beautiful state into Michissippi and we will never recover.

I shouldn't say here, I know Rick's family personally. Nice enough guy, but yeah - they lead an insulated life from us "common" folk.

The other thing about Rick is that I know he will genuflect to his puppet masters. Observe his behavior during the sudden "Right To Work" debacle.
