FBI meets with USA Swimming on sexual exploitation concerns

FBI representatives met with USA Swimming officials this summer to discuss potential violations associated with child exploitation matters, according to a bureau letter sent to a prominent Bay Area lawmaker.

The discussions occurred after Rep. George Miller, D-Martinez, requested the agency launch an investigation into swimming's handling of child sexual abuse cases that have received national attention.

In a letter to the bureau dated July 9, Miller said USA Swimming "has failed in a number of instances to fully investigate and take all the necessary steps to protect children when presented with allegations of sexual abuse among its ranks."

Miller's staff released the 11-page letter and the FBI's response Wednesday night in an effort to cast a spotlight on one of the outgoing congressman's major concerns. Miller, 68, plans to retire after 40 years in Congress when the current term ends.

I am so disappointed and disgusted...and I never knew about this bullshit.

2. Is there no normal safe sporting activity

for kids and adults anymore? I grew up with swimming, swam in team sports, I had plenty of adult coaches and adult friends growing up and not once... not even once was there even the slightest sexual advance or preening... never. Respect is dead. Responsibility is dead. Why? What is happening and will happen to the youth of this country when there is no trust left... no role models? I'll venture to say we will see an expansion of child abuse like we haven't seen yet thanks to a few jerks, a media that wants to titillate the public for profit and a public that sucks it up like an XXX video.

I don't deny it exists. I detest the vast changes the situation is having and will have on civilization.

Kids need adults they can trust. It seems every education system now teaches everything that denies human interaction, teaching kids to distrust and that every adult is to be suspect. It's going to create a whole lot of neurosis. Thanks to those media enhanced jerks.

And unfortunately I'm speaking mostly of the United States and G.B.
