BP flak: We didn't ruin Gulf, La. caused oyster losses

Source: WWL New Orleans

In its latest effort to portray itself as the victim of overzealous damage claims in the wake of its 2010 oil spill off Louisiana, BP blames damage to oyster beds on Gov. Bobby Jindal's "misguided decision… to divert fresh water from the Mississippi River to the Gulf" and argues the oil giant "should not be accountable for damages caused by the acts of others."

BP spokesman Geoff Morrell wrote in an op-ed piece Wednesday in Politico Magazine that no oyster beds were oiled in the three years after the spill, but says Louisiana should bear the blame for damage to those beds caused by the fresh water Jindal released to try to keep the oil out of the state's delicate coastal marshes.

...

Steve Murchie, campaign director for New Orleans-based environmental advocacy group Gulf Restoration Network, was more direct in his assessment of Morrell's argument.

"That's kind of like an arsonist blaming the fire department for the water damage to the house," he said.

"They've deployed a strategy since the very beginning of the disaster to downplay their responsibility and to escape having the full consequences of the worst environmental disaster in U.S. history," he said.

I don't get why this company is allowed to continue to operate in US waters, except their lobbyists must be paying out a lot to Congress

Tool. yes. In this case, his value to them is a scapegoat. That fresh water ruined the oysters BEFORE the oil got to them! Like people are going to believe this crap.

thousands (in their budgeting for that plant they decided to save money and not fix the most dangerous problems in the plant. They estimated they would only kill one or two workers and went so far as to determine how much that would cost for each life).
With the Deepwater Horizon, they did a deal with Obama to get control over the Coast Guard to spray Corexit which sinks the oil to the bottom (on the oyster beds). They are and have been the biggest advertiser on the Gulf Coast so no media outlet would run anything perceived as negative to BP and risk losing the ad money. They buy up every documentary before they come out. Their biggest coup was to offer the Plaintiff's Steering Committee (The law firms picked by the judge to represent all of the victims and prosecute the case against BP) a $$600,000,000 "Common Benefit Fund" if the Class Action Settlement they drafted goes through to completion. Remember, these are the judge's friends he appointed, and now the rulings mainly benefit BP and protect the settlement from firms like ours who want to see it thrown out. The settlement is denying 75% of the claims while awarding a pittance to the other 25%! This has been the biggest joke I have seen in all of my 25 years at practicing law!

So I settled for a procedurally flawed précis:

I gotta believe the dissent has come into its own and applicable in the instant case. But I'm only admitted in CA and the CA Eastern District.

The farmers down in that part of the region and god only knows why they keep supporting lobbyist, politicians down their have got to take a sample of the water they live near, have it analyzed, and then ship a small portion of this shit to there "friends" that are destroying them, they right along with any other living creature cannot survive if you have an oil by product in the water.
And then to release fresh water to clean the shit off the creatures does what, cycle thru the crap and does nothing except pollute your fresh clean water you need to live off, don't be stupid if you know what they are doing..
I mean really people you have more sun down there and have port get rid yourself of oil, they have down nothing except kill you and your lively hood , I and you can't eat oil.
Your coast line is disappearing because oil by products are creating hurricanes if you think about the industrial pollution, you have the highest health care issues in the country, besides Galveston Texas, and its all because of oil, if you really think about it, you have your fishing, shrimp industry failing, I will not eat your products again, do you see the picture, I am only one person, but they're are million of us who just will not eat your food its been poisoned.
You cannot sustain your life without clean water that is the bottom line.
BP committed corporate murder on your shores and they another's in that industry should be held accountable for corporate murder by the greed they live for, Mittens ( Romney) says corporations are people my friend , well if they are, charge them with murder, its that simple.
